How do I begin to put into words why you should apply to become a Rose... ... I was going to say my journey began on the 27th May, when I was selected as the Antrim Rose, but it actually began long before that.
2 years ago I applied to represent my county in the Rose of Tralee international festival, I met some fantastic girls who I still call my friends! Unfortunately there wasn’t enough girls to have a selection night. This year, I seen a advertisement on Facebook to apply to be the Rose and I thought, yeah, I had a great experience last time, why not give it a go again! (My granny always told me I’d make a great Rose 😂) I met 11 other lovely ladies, (2 fab coordinators included) we were taking on some amazing outings around Co. Antrim, which I honestly believe it the most stunning county in Ireland, not being biased 😛 this is when Beautbox got involved as my sponsor, without sponsors like Beautbox, the festival wouldn’t work! So I am forever grateful for all they’ve done for me, they got behind me and believed in me the whole way! Who better to represent me than a local company, I truly believe in supporting local 🙂
Jumping forward a few months and the support of local businesses, which have been unbelievable... I arrived in Kildare to begin my Rose of Tralee experience.
I can’t go through everything we got to do, cause that would take me hours, but I will give you a snapshot! I climbed the tower in Kildare in heels and a fascinator, made Irish coffee, got driven in some kind of really fast racecar, went on a helicopter from the K Club to stunning Glenroyal hotel Maynooth, (honestly is the friendliest hotel in Ireland) all before 3pm, if that isn’t a once in a lifetime opportunity I don’t know what is.
The main thing I want to talk about from my experience is the girls I’ve met. (And escorts) but the amazing women I got to spend those 10 days with are the best bunch of girls about and I’m sure every year group says the same. I cannot wait to meet up with them again, we’ve already booked flights to Frankfurt and New York, Texas and Australia won’t be too far away either! It’s so important in life to have people to talk to and share experiences with and the Rose of Tralee international festival definitely opens the door for a lifetime of these experiences.
If you’re thinking about entering but aren’t sure, please please send me a message because I can confirm it is the best experience I’ve ever had and this really is only the start of my Antrim Rose year, but I can’t see this only lasting a year, once a Rose always a Rose. 🌹
We look forward to working with Roisin throughout the year as she tours America as part of her Rose duties!
