Many of you will already have heard the sad news of Philip Duke's passing. There have been a lot of beautiful tributes from friends of Dukie and from other clubs offering their condolences, but we at Quins wanted to say something to honour this great man. That said, trying to piece together the words to do him justice has been a struggle. It isn't often that one man can have an impact on so many people's lives. Philip Duke was one such man. We at Harlequins were truly blessed... to have known him for as long as we did. He was loved by everyone in the club and there was never a dull moment when he was around. Not only at Harlequins was he loved, but it seems that he was loved by everyone in Ulster and Irish hockey. The shock of this tragic news still hasn't really sunk in, we still will be expecting to see him when we walk into the clubhouse on a Saturday, to have him cheering us on from the sidelines, but I suppose, as long as Belfast Harlequins is around well then Dukie will be with us too. Whilst we feel like family to Philip we would also like to offer our own condolences to the family of Philip Duke at this incredibly sad time. Dukie was always busy doing something with hockey at the club. I am really sad as I never went on one of his trips or properly shared "the craic" with him . Enjoy life while you can and try and leave a legacy like "Dukie" Martin Malseed
