Top tips for stress-free parking at BIA! 🚗

User

Quiet airport, customs was a little rude, but then turned it around, the flight was good, Norwegian aircraft a little tight but for the cost it was very good. The seats were ok, thought I was going to have a back ache but didn’t all in all a good flight and so far good experience

User

Flew out of BIA last week to go to Italy,we were worried about security being slow but our check-in desk was open early so we sailed through no problem, but coming home was a different story Stood at passport security for 35 mins .He said 3 planes had landed at same time ,now I'm no rocket scientist but there was no one in 'any other country' queue ,could some people not have gone in that queue. ..Then we had lady at front of queue sorting travellers per party, now we all made it to Italy (were they speak a foreign language ) and managed to get ourselves through passport control ...treating us like we're stupid .. go do something worthwhile. Then to collect our luggage ,you would think after 35 min wait it would be waiting for us oh no another 30 mins waiting on it ...It was a shambles verging on incompetence, us N.I people are used to a 2nd rate service ,but for any tourist on the flight that is the first impression they get of our wee country. We should be building up our tourism and that experience isn't going to help matters ... All I can say is thank God I'm not a frequent flyer or my blood pressure would be sky high ...sort yourselves out BIA yous are an embarrassment! !!!

User

I dread flying from BFS despite its geographical convenience. Queues to get through security are consistently long and despite a lot of recent media attention about the problem it hasn’t improved much since. There’s not enough seating in the main departure area so you’re always forced to wander about aimlessly. I fly a lot and BFS is by far the worst. If they sorted the security situation their reputation would improve immensely but they don’t seem to want to do this.

I usually buy a fast track pass to try to get through security quicker but they’ve recently removed the terminals to do this so the only option now is to buy in advance online but it’s not always practical to do this.

A very customer unfriendly airport.

User

30 mins in security queue that didn’t seem to have that many people in it to realise that only one scanner was being used whilst the other was for priority pass only. Ridiculous. Coming back to a huge queue at customs taking another 30mins. Becoming a joke of an airport to actually go through despite it being the ‘international’ airport for the country.

User

Worst airport i have experienced. Flew out 4th July , took just over 2hrs to get through the section that scans boarding cards leading to security. Returned 11th July and took just over an hour to get through passport checking whilst standing in a queue in stifling heat - not even fresh air never mind air con.

In contrast Luton airport - easyjets main hub took 20 mins to through security with easily quadruple the amount of people.

User

What a JOKE of an airport! Severely lacking efficiencies at airport security, queued for an hour to get through, clear lack of accurate scheduling to deal with the volume of people coming through. I would highly recommend arriving at least 3hrs before flying to check in bags and get through security at what claims to be an "International Airport", International embarrassment more like! Sip & Stone Bar & Kitchen is a whole other story, food is heavily overpriced, whilst the menu depicts appetising food, the execution of the menu by the chef is the complete opposite. "Golden crumb chicken burger" was far from golden, it was cremated with a miniature bowl of chips on the side. Eat before you travel and don't waste your money!

User

We landed from Palma with Jet2 on 9 June 2018 at 13.43. At exactly 14.30, I was collecting our cases from the baggage reclaim carousel. This is a very poor service from an international airport. Management needs to review this particular area with a view to improving the service timewise. I have to say that this is not the first time I have experienced such poor service in this area. On another note, the airport needs to spend a lot of money on the arrivals areas with regard to infrastructure. Asking passengers to climb concrete stairs immediately after disembarking from the aircraft is not on.

User

The worst security experience in the UK by a country mile - it’s actually getting embarrassing now!! EVERYONE had to take shoes off? Really? Trainers on kids - everyone! Seriously buck your ideas up or we all end up going down to Dublin - it’s that bad! Archaic just like the building and infrastructure. Nearly 75 mins from boarding card scan to departures mid week pre school holidays??? Get a grip.

User

The staff at the airport were brilliant when I was taking my 21 year old Autistic son on holidays he was wearing the lanyard around his neck so everyone was aware he had severe Autism, but when we got to security it turned in to a nightmare they made me take him in to a room way down a long hallway and tried to search him , he was petrified and curled up in to a ball on the ground after the security man started shouting at him to stand with his arms in the air , I keep telling them he Autistic and your freaking him out but they didn’t care , they gave up after my son lay curled up on the ground , after when they let us out of that room about 10 security staff were lined up in the hall laughing and joking about us as we walked back up the hall , it was an absolute disgrace they need sacked and new well trained Autistic awear staff in there place , worst unprofessional security staff I have ever come across BIA you need to sort them out there letting down the rest of the good staff in the airport

User

The lack of management at this airport causes serious problems for commuters. As a frequent flyer through work it has always been a poor experience but this morning was the worst yet missed flight no assistance and as usual presented with a customer service rep who can do nothing but stand and chat about processes.

I can say quite easily the management of the airport are not fit for purpose! Same repeating issues no coordination with airlines blaming external contractors and up to management to coordinate.

User

The airport can’t cope with the volume of traffic going through. Way too hot, absolutely no air inside at all. I know we are having a heatwave but the air conditioning works brilliantly in the duty free zone where they want you to spend money. Came here last week and waiting for an hour in security in the heat. Surely they know how many people are coming through?? One child nearly fainted in the heat. Belfast needs to invest in its “international” airport. It’s an embarrassment.

User

Terrible place to arrive at from Europe . Had to walk 200 metres from the plane to the terminal, no staff guideguidance, no signage, pilot actually told us don't walk behind the engines!! Once inside had to climb 4 flights of stairs, no staff again, passport staff grunted at us. No clear signage beyond this point. Place looked dirty, untidy and in very poor condition. Incredibly poor impression for anyone arriving to what is an international airport. Have the Nothern Irish people just got so used to this lack of service and shabby conditions that they no longer see it. Nowhere else in Europe would accept this standard.

User

Stinking airport , toilets absolutely rank smell would knock you clean out , three times the price of everything in shops , staff very stand offish, out of a 100 I'd give this airport 1.does anyone pay attention to these negative views ? I think not cause this is absolutely the worst airport I've ever been in n I've been in a lot of airports. !

User

Shambles !

Waited over an hour in arrivals corridor with passengers from 3 flights (easily over 900 people) waiting to have passports checked , especially not good for elderly folk or families with young kids, one parent was asking others for water for his toddler, then when you find two desks open which is operating a manual scan system , (whatever that is) , & 'other' passports control desk empty makes the whole experience a disgrace & embarrassment.

Then you would think after waiting over an hour at passport control your cases would at least be on the carousel- not so , had to wait another 25 mins there.

As an international airport it is a complete farce.

Security process total disaster! Flew out 22nd June on 6.20am flight to Reus. Arrived at check-in at 4.15 am with 3 young children. Narrowly managed to catch the flight and only because we asked people could we jump the queue a little and we ran from security with my husband carrying my 3 year old. Even our pilot apologised saying its "an ongoing problem and total disgrace". I would honestly chose to fly from Dublin or Belfast city in future. Seriously Belfast international Airport management, in this day and age we want to be safe but when other airports can run efficiently and provide an enjoyable experience you need to take stock and make changes. Reus airport coming home at a very busy time 10 minutes through security.

User

Possibly the worst airport I’ve ever travelled through. Nowhere near enough capacity for the volume of people passing through, standing for hours because there are not enough seats, bars were disgusting - counters covered in the used food plates of others, cleanliness is shocking and the temperature was like standing in the Sahara - have you heard of aircon? Give this a BIG miss and travel through Dublin or City airport instead

User

Belfast International Airport you should be ashamed of yourselves. 1 hour 30 minutes queue to get through security this morning which resulted in people missing flights that's just not acceptable. Easyjet were putting people on the later flight as a goodwill gesture but wouldn't refund to those that had to be back earlier and had to book flights from Belfast City resulting in additional cost and stress. Personally I think you should refund all the people affected by your lack of organisation and shoddy practices

User

BIA is genuinely the worst airport I’ve ever been to, aside from it being in dire need of a refurbishment, it’s not even clean. The staff are also some of the rudest people I have ever came across, it’s worse than a lack of customer service skills, they lack basic manners. There was no queue and only a handful of people going through security last week and we were all told to ‘hurry up and move along’. Perhaps the staff could spend a day at Dublin airport to see how a decent airport is run.

User

Always ridiculously slow at security but Absolute disgrace on way home. Several flights of steps , no lift long walk and then massive queues at passport control with three flights in at same time. God help the elderly and families with small children Queues of cars at pick up point resulting in barriers not accepting tickets. Get your act together management at BIA
