'So I can breathe this air' is a unique piece of outdoor theatre / tour / experience that explores what it's like to be LGBT+ moving to and living in Northern Ireland and you can catch the remaining performances tomorrow. We all have multiple identities and this looks at what it's like wanting to belong when additional barriers are put in your way because you come from a minority ethnic background.
You can find full details here: http://www.belfastpride.com/even…/so-i- can-bre...athe-this-air/
Dean Lee, from the Rainbow Project's Gay Ethnic Group, writes about the peice and the background to it here: https://www.rainbow-project.org/…/and-b reatheits-pride-seas…

It's Pride Day in Belfast and it's time to Come out for Change! It's time to protest for the rights that LGBT+ people here don't have and time to takeover the streets to celebrate our lives and identities.
We need to have the biggest Belfast Pride parade yet to show the strength of support for Change - our rights are being denied and that needs to change.
We need to show support for all LGBT+ people with the unique affirmation that Pride gives and celebrate our lives to clai...m our place as equal citizens.
Belfast will be at it's best today and it's time to play your part - come in to town, join the parade, visit the Square, Pride Village, the street parties and share the positivity and acceptance.

The Belfast Pride parade is one of the most regulated Pride parades in Western Europe, despite being in the jurisdiction with the worst provision on LGBT+ rights. Our Pride parade is treated like all other parades and marches in Northern Ireland and subject to parading law and the Parades Commission, unlike Pride parades elsewhere.
Everyone taking part is subject to these laws and we have to follow the Parades Commission's Code of Conduct and we have been asked to share this... to make you aware of the law. Breaches of the Code of Conduct could restrict further Prides and the law applies to everyone taking part.
Belfast Pride is still a protest and a celebration - a protest because we are not equal in this society and a celebration to give LGBT+ people here positive affirmation and hope.
We need Change here and tomorrow is your chance to #ComeOutforChange

🌈 JOINING US TOMORROW?🌈
Head on down to @bootleggersbelfast to take a sip of their special Pride cocktail menu.
See details below on their post naming the cocktails after incredible LGBTQ trailblazers! £1 from each cocktail will be donated to Belfast Pride.
... Headlining the pride menu is....
🌺🌼 MARSHA P. JOHNSON🌼🌺
Marsha P. was an African-American transgender woman who was an LGBTQ right activist and outspoken advocate for trans people of colour.
During her life she worked tirelessly, helping homeless transgender youth in New York City and was a leading figure during the stone wall riots. Sadly she was murdered in 1992, but she lives on as a constant source of hope and inspiration for us all!
Remember Marsha P. Johnson this Pride, we have a lot to thank her for!

There was a great turn out at the 2nd Poetry with Pride last night at the MAC and thanks to all the readers who too part. We launched the second Belfast Pride collection of LGBT+ poetry entitled 'Coming Out'.
The collection features poems by Mícheál McCann, Charlotte Derrick, Anna Loughran, Chris McMurray, Marc Gregg, Molua Young and was put together by Belfast Pride's Toby Buckley.
You can get a copy from the Belfast Pride office all week and Custom House Square and Pride Vi...llage on Saturday. It costs £5 and all proceeds go to poetry events at Belfast Pride next year.

We're looking forward to talking about approaches to tackling Hate Crime with the PSNI today at 5.30pm. Come along and join the discussion.
Police officers and staff have taken part in Belfast Pride events since 2008 however last year was the first time that police officers took part in the Pride parade in uniform to an overwhelmingly positive reception and this was recognised in the Belfast Pride Awards public vote where the PSNI won three awards.
Are there other ways that ...the PSNI could encourage more reporting of Hate Crime? Join the conversation.
