Our local Magpies have been very vocal of late .. but did you know that Magpies did not occur on the island of Ireland until the 1600s? Magpies were first recorded in Wexford in 1676 when up to a dozen flew across the Irish sea from Britain. Breeding in Dublin was first noted in 1852. https://www.independent.ie/…/the-magpie -a-striking-bird-whi…

Summer in the garden. Evening primrose, poppies, fox gloves, native bees and hover flies abound as well as soldier beetles, saw fly larvae and ladybirds. Our pond has been invaded by frogs 🐸 can you spot one? Our vision has fruited into a dreamy sweet smelling flower filled insect friendly spray free paradise. So much LIFE here to enjoy and observe.
