Young Cinemagic participants who performed ‘A Stone’s Throw’ for a visiting delegation of The Ireland Funds, at Crescent Arts Centre, Belfast recently. The production was created to unite young people from different backgrounds through theatre, performance and film to tackle issues around anti social behaviour and consequences. The performance also inspired a teaching resource in association with CCEA for Active Citizenship using Drama.

I had been hairdressing from I was 14 years old and actually grew up in a hairdressers that my big sister Wendy owned. I started as a wig specialist with a contract from Belfast City Hospital twelve years ago.
From the moment I fitted my first wig I knew there was no going back. Giving a vulnerable, sometimes broken individual their hair back is the most amazing thing you can do! As soon as the wig is on your client’s head you see a whole person appear and a happiness in the...ir face and eyes that says it all. Running Lemonade Wigs really is the best job in the world.
When I see the bravery of some of my clients (especially some of the younger adults and children), it makes me realise the simple things in life are the most important . . . like family, love and kindness, and that every day is a blessing!
My clients are very mixed bag . . , mostly coming from cancer services or alopecia services there is a small percentage that want wigs for cosmetic purposes. Also transgender, transvestite also make up a small percentage of my clients

HAVING Alopecia all my life I do have to do things a bit differently from my friends, including getting up early and drawing on my eyebrows and eyeliner.
It’s great to be able to wear different wigs every day. I love having the choice of changing my hair each day and having loads of different options to choose from.
It’s actually quite fun.
