Breakthru

Breakthru is a cross community drug and alcohol awareness organisation.

Breakthru tackles substance misuse and promotes general health and wellbeing. Underpinning all the work of Breakthru is the belief that everyone deserves to be treated with respect and dignity and that everyone deserves to be armed with accurate, up to date information so they are able to make informed decisions about lifestyle choices.

Breakthru provides the following services:

1. Counselling and Helpline Service. We offer support to all who contact us whether by telephone or by calling in person.

2. The Neighbourhood Renewal programme works with young people in disadvantaged communities experiencing high levels of drug and alcohol misuse. Breakthru works in partnership with local community groups and statutory bodies to address issues of substance misuse and enable young people to reach their full potential.

3. GEMS (Group Education and Motivation Support) is a 10 week programme which explores recovery from addiction and its impact.

4. The Community Pharmacy partnership delivers programmes that focus on health and wellbeing. Groups include women who have had crisis intervention counselling.

5. A drop-in recovery support group for people dealing with addictions meets weekly at our Dungannon offices.

6. DICE: (Drug Intervention and Community Education) provides support for young people affected by parental substance misuse or 'Hidden Harm'. The project visits schools, raising awareness of the issues and encouraging potentially affected young people to seek help and trains professionals to recognise and respond to 'Hidden Harm' as early as possible.

7. A Youth Gambling pilot providing information and one to one support for young people affected by gambling.
