.Understanding Organisational Context is the first step to effective business planning and a key requirement for the new ISO management system standards. This video provides some guidance on how to develop your knowledge of your organisation's context. http://ow.ly/d9Ax50uJv5W This is something that all business do, whether its through team work or held in the owner's head, without this understanding your business will never succeed. So, get to work, develop and share your organisation's context with the rest of your team are all starting from the same point.

.There is a lot of legislation being released to bring EU rules in to UK laws. Don't forget to update your legal registers with these or you could get a non-conformance from your auditors.

.Successful internal audits make better organisations. To do this: - 1) Set objectives for the audits - Think about, and list, what you want the audits to achieve. Prioritise the list that you create and select the top 3 to 5 items in the list. These could include compliance to the standard, improvement engagement, reductions in NCs, best practice sharing. Set up a scoring process for the audit where high scores equal successful outcomes. These scores can then be used ...to show everyone what a success audit is and used to report outcomes to the senior management team. 2) Ensure auditors can do the job - Make sure the auditors are competent auditors and have some experience of your organisation. set up competency criteria which could include training, number of accompanied audits, peer reviews and so on. Make sure auditors focus on the positives as well as NCs and use NCs to focus on improvements 3) Put success measures in place - Report findings positively and set up display graphs/ reports showing results of audits to promote best practice sharing. 4) Review outcomes and agree system and cultural improvements with senior management - Use the findings and audit results to identify trends in processes, departments, functions, divisions, organisations, etc. Use these trends to promote systems and cultural improvement in your organisation. Set targets for improvements

.Preparing for your next ISO audit? what actions do you take? Issuing an agenda for the audit is no longer enough. Take time to prepare your team and the people that the auditor will talk to. .An effective Management System Scope must include the types of products and services provided, processes used and, if necessary, locations covered. It must not be misleading or misrepresent the organisation's activities. Check out this guide http://ow.ly/PrR230llIgZ Look again at your scope, does it tell your customers what you do and help to give them confidence that you can bring value to their organisation? The scope is one of the first things that prospective customers will see about your organisation, use it wisely.
