I paid online for the booking - only to be faced with an additional £30 charge for using my own insurance plus a £5,000 deposit. I book hire cars all over the UK, with several companies and have never been charged an admin fee before. I book regularly with Enterprise who only charge £200 deposit. The hire car wasn't in the correct bay, and had additional scratches which I had to report to their staff. Will not use Budget again.

Rented a vehicle at the end of last month for a long weekend visit home. Price was great and the service on picking up the car was friendly and efficient, and the car parked adjacent to the terminal. Drop off was very quick too, and despite being technically "off airport" is in reality on your way in, and we were dropped straight to the terminal, so no inconvenience at all. Compelled to actually take the time to write this review after chasing up Budget today with an issue I had regarding my credit card deposit. After leaving a message on answerphone, Gary called me back within 5 minutes, and went through the issue with me and reviewed the paperwork associated with my rental. It turned out the problem was actually with my bank, but Gary could not have been more helpful explaining the processes, and how to address it with my bank, and offering to provide further assistance if required. Following his advice, I had the issue addressed by the bank within 30 mins. Excellence post transaction customer service and a great example to others. Many thanks for a great customer experience.

Budget did not make us aware at any point that car drop off at Belfast International airport is off site. When returning the car we had to leave it at the pick up area, walk into the arrivals hall where we were snottily informed that there is a poster on the approach to the airport. We pointed out that drivers were unlikely to be looking for a poster, particularly when all other car hire providers have physical signs. Since we hadn't spotted the poster we requested directions but the lady at the desk seemed incapable of providing a coherent answer. We set off in search of the poster but it was nowhere to be seen. 20 mins of circling the area in the car, we called customer services which turned out to be based in Barcelona with charges to call from a mobile. The person on the phone was completely unable to help, clearly having no knowledge of the local area. 40 minutes after arriving at the airport, we found the drop off. First and last time using budget. Absolute joke of a company never mind the incompetent customer service.

I always use Budget when I'm working in Northern Ireland. Staff at the welcome desk are always friendly and courteous, and the time it takes to process my details is extremely quick. Cars are always in great condition and suit my requirements perfectly. The return process is equally as friendly and efficient and being dropped off at the airport is a real bonus. I highly recommend Budget.

I was delighted with how cheap the car rental was, although I decided to pay for insurance to cover the £1000 excess, which proved to be the same price as the car rental - £50. However, £50 odd quid for 6 days rental is really good value, and the car, a Peugeot 208 was fine for the job. Only the cost of the excess insurance grated a bit, although that was entirely optional, and was taken out through a separate company. The service was excellent, and on return the inspection was speedy, and he gave me a lift to the terminal in the car. A nice touch. The condition of the car was like new. So I would thoroughly recommend you to anyone wishing to hire a car in Northern Ireland. I would however suggest you seriously consider how to reduce the cost of covering the damage excess of £1,000.

This was the worst rental service I have ever used and we travel quite often. To start, we waited 35 minutes for a queue of 3 people in front of us. When we arrived at the desk, the attendant told us they would take a $1,000 deposit on the car and if we didn't pay for extra insurance we would not get that back as that was their deductible. We already had damage waiver insurance included in our rental through using our insurance company to book. I tried to explain this to the attendant, but it's obvious he wasn't going to let us go without a long guilt trip about insurance, so we swallowed the 30 pound charge to avoid standing there any longer. Then, we walk to pick up our car where we wait with no one in sight for an additional 30 minutes. Our car finally arrives and it's gas tank is full 7/8. So, after using the car and returning it we either have to guess where 7/8 full is or fill it all of the way and let them screw us on the extra gas we pay for... typical for this particular location. This location obviously has customer service as it's last priority, would highly advise paying a few pounds extra to use another rental company in Belfast!

We have just got back from our trip to Ireland.
We booked car online before left, we then then made our way to the desk in the arrival hall.
Staff were very polite very speedy, full of great advice.
Great car a Seat Leon. I hope we can have the same when we return.
If you pay the damage waiver then you do not need to leave any holding fee on your credit card!
For peace of mind I would recommend the damage waiver option!
All in all fantastic company fantastic customer service from the staff on the desk, also great friendly staff member in returns who dropped us back to the airport!

My experience to date is disastrous with this company, we deliver a car with numerous damages bumper tires, these damages are reflected in the corresponding document that we deliver with the contract. when we returned the vehicle we signed a document of damages by a cut in a tyre. They send us an invoice where they make us pay for the repairs of that vehicle that are not our responsibility. We are only responsable for a cut in a tire. We are charged a bill o 597 GBP. By email they do not answer our complaints.And on the phone they tell us that the damage was seen after we leave. We feel helpless, we feel cheated.

Over 200 Hires from these guys and always spot on. Slick checkout coupled with great banter and always a pleasant smile. What more could you ask for on a Monday morning. Returns is some distance from the airport but the returns process is quick and you are a 1 minute courtesy drive from the terminal door. No hidden charges or extras. Still waiting on my Porsche Upgrade ;-) LOL - very good team - Thanks
