We've just returned to the UK after a fantastic Relocation Trip from Germany to Edinburgh. Everything went smoothly, and having never used a camper van before, we felt confident after our 1-1 demonstration of the new van at the factory and a team member was always on the other end of the phone if we needed them. We chose a spectacular route following the Bavarian Alps in glorious sunshine, travelling back via the French Champagne region. We then extended our trip as there was a heatwave in the UK and spent 2 relaxing nights on the Norfolk coast before heading north. We can't speak highly enough of our trip and are already planning next year's route and thinking about buying a second hand van of our own!

User

We rented an Aero Plus in Bunk Campers In Dublin. The van was in excellent condition and well equipped. We were given a thorough explanation of the different elements: gas; electricity; waste water; loo etc. and these are also in the accompanying manual that is in the van. Our trip was in March and we were glad of the heater that was very effective. Ireland is very camper van friendly and we had no trouble finding places to stop for the night that had the relevant facilities for us. We are planning another trip as soon as we can get away.

User

We loved every minute of our campervan adventure :-) We were campervan "newbies", but the very detailed instruction from the team and the features (rear view camera, built in gps, stickers that indicate height and weight for driving narrow streets) made it really easy and convenient for us to drive around Scotland. First we were a bit intimitated from horror stories of some of our friends about driving a large campervan on narrow streets, but our model (Vista) was actually very compact and it didn't feel like driving around in a large truck (compared to other campervans that are on the road). It is still pretty easy to maneuver.

We enjoyed the camping chairs and I recommend you add them as well. We were looking for "off track" spots to stay overnight and it took us some days to spot hidden gems (it was easier on the isle of skye and some other rural areas). Personally we didn't want to stay at campsites but were looking for dead-end roads with spectacular views (that was easier in the coastal region). As we were very lucky with the weather the gas bottle lasted for our whole trip (8 days) without having to change it as we only used it for cooling the fridge overnight and for cooking.

My personal recommendation for an overnight stay is Neist Point Lighthouse on the Isle of Skye. Terrific and dramatic view and once tourists are gone (around 5, 6 pm) you have the whole parking lot for yourself.

Thank you bunk campers for enabling us a great first experience with campervan vacations, it won't be our last one!

User

We hired an Aero for two from Edinburgh. We were picked-up from the Airport on time. Got a trough familiarization. Set off for the adventure. Camper practically NEW in MINT condition. Very clean linen and kitchen fully equipped with utensils. In the end managed to resolve return time misunderstanding with Boss. Got us back to the airport ahead of time. Thanks to all the team! Excellent service!

User

We hired a VW T5 transporter from the Edinburgh depot to travel the NC500 first week in April. What a wonderful experience! Great price for a week travelling scenic Scotland! Branch manager Tom was extremely helpful and very accommodating (even after I'd made multiple booking amendments!). Tom ensured that we had everything we needed and was an absolute pleasure to deal with. The van was immaculate, the conversion was excellent, clever storage, comfortable arrangements for eating, sleeping and travelling... Needless to say we had the most fabulous time! I'd highly recommend booking with Bunkcampers... We're already planning our next trip!!

User

We had the best time ever in the Outer Hebrides. The camper was so great, very modern and cosy and the customer service has been great throughout the process. I will definitely hire with bunk campers again and would warmly recommend it.

User

We had an amazing holiday on Scotland's NC500. Early April and we had 12 consecutive days of sunshine...and sunsets. Sc,otland is an awesome place. WQe drove for miles some days and rarely saw another car. Wild camping was exciting. We had never experienced it before. One night we parked off-road in the dark, and woke up the next morning to discover we were right next to a beautiful loch. What a delight. We had a small problem with the campervan, which was swiftly dealt with by telephone by the Bunk Staff. Can't wait to do it all again. We've caught the Bunk Bug!

User

We had a great time on our road trip around Northern Ireland in June 2018. Our campervan Daisy was brand new and easy to manage, very economical also, the freedom you get with a camper is super yet with all the comforts included, we would highly recommend Bunk Campers as a hire company, professional, easy to deal with and very accommodating, well done 👍 and thanks again, we wl be back 😊😊

User

We had a great experience with Bunk Campers, and staff were really friendly and helpful at the Dublin and Edinburgh depots. The campervan itself was great, we had a hassle-free experience having adventures in Northern Ireland and Scotland. Appreciate the great service Bunk Campers!

User

Toured the Wild Atlantic Way in the North & West Coast of Ireland. Started in Carryduff the Belfast office in Northern Ireland. The staff were excellent & went to great lengths to ensure we knew exactly what we were getting & how to get the best out of our BunkCamper. The journey was amazing & my friend from the USA was overwhelmed by the landscape we travelled through & how easily accessible it was in our BunkCamper which was surprisingly economical very comfortable & manoeuvrable with large windscreens for viewing as we drove along and with the added bonus of being able to stop almost anywhere we wanted. If you want to be independent not tied to the one b&b or Hotel then plan a week or more with a BunkCamper. Go where you want to go, do more, see more at your own pace. Thankyou guys. Highly recommended😀

Just returned from a fantastic relocation trip from Germany. first time to experience Bunk Campers and really enjoyed the experience.

User

Had an amazing trip in Scotland, over 1000 miles in 19 days. The camper van was perfect for our trip and the Bunk staff was a pleasure to deal with. Would definitely use them again in the future.

User

5 stars for their responsive customer service prior to picking up the van! Would highly recommend this company to someone looking to rent a van and explore Scotland

User

We hired the Nomad camper in January and were absolutely thrilled with it. Despite the cold outside, the heater works fine and doesn't consume too much gas. Scotland is amazing, especially when snowy and empty! We have nothing but nice things to say about the staff in Edinburgh: Very professional, they took the time to show us around the camper.

Small tip to get there from the airport: An Uber will be cheaper (around 14£ VS 20£ with BunkCampers) and if you're lucky with the time, you can even take the bus for less than 2£ each. Don't bother with the airport pickup, as I saw some complaints about it :)

Just one thing though : It would have been nice if the staff had properly checked that the cigaret lighters were working. Ours wasn't and it was a bit hard to charge our phones with only one USB plug. However we could have fixed it ourselves as we had some fuses provided by Bunk Campers.

Anyway, great experience, I strongly recommend it!

User

What a shame !!

Still no news of our deposit ! It's been two month ! You told us that the insurance of the other driver agreed to take all reponsbilites !

Because of the language it is hard for us to be fully understandood, but be sure that next time, if we don't have news soon, you will heard of us in a much stronger way.

What a pity to have to threaten you to have our money back.

User

We would like to agree with the earlier review in regard to the attitude of the staff, and our general experience. We arrived form an international flight, rang as requested mid afternoon to an answering machine telling us they were closed. Many previously unmentioned charges were expected. Our agreement re one way returns was not honoured despite the website still saying they do this. Some charges were there twice. The prepaid full gas bottle ran out when we wild camping over 3 nights and they only refunded this cost, not the expenses this incurred for us. twice rand for help re equipment to an unanswered number. When answered all that was mentioned was the hefty fine if we returned it unfixed, not the help fixing it. The vehicle itself was good but the supplied equipment was the cheapest you can buy, no quality here, as if they expected you to steal it. Basically it as all about them. Staff rude and no apologies or empathy. I wouldn't touch this mob again.

User

We had a great holiday despite the worry the company gave us - which was regarding how the vehicle we were given had a short circuit issue and the battery (a professional at Edinburgh bunk campers told me) showed as 5volt, not 13volt.

Their leisure batteries do not last 8 hours - barely an hour use. The first car with the short circuit issue was given to us by the Horsham depot, where a man was disrespectful, inconsiderate and persnickety about where we parked the van on return.

A man at the Edinburgh depot was rude also accusing me of lying about the issue.

User

Our trip ended saturday 23 september and we had a car accident during it.

It was obvious that it was not fault accident( the other vehicle crashed the backside of the motorhome when we were stopped).

But when we brought back the motorhome ( with all papers for the insurance) you told us that you had to keep the imprint on our bank card without debiting until the insurance repay for the damages.

Unfortunately we saw few days before that the money was debited without any explication.

When we called the company you said that, it is the usual procedure.

Now 20 days after we still don't have any information about our guarantee.

User

I have counted to 10, yet still I have to give this rental company 1 star. For the bed, that is. The bed in the Vista van was amazing! Customer support however, zero points.

We rented in May/June for 2,5 weeks. It all started well when we collected the van on a Sunday (which means a hefty surcharge), when we found out the steering wheel was not alligned at all, we had a problem with one of the windows and a drawer was slamming open at the first bend in the road as the lock mechanism didn't work. We had to come back on the next day and waiting a few hours at the depot to get things fixed, so goodbye first 2 days of our holidays.

The fix made on the drawer was a joke (McGyver eat your heart out), as it was fixed with some masking tape and needless to say, a few days later again the cutlery and frying pan were flying through the camper van when the drawer opened itself again while driving. Furthermore, we had severe problems with the electrical panel and did not have had any hot water during our 2,5 week trip. (it could be worse though, we met a Bunk camper in which the fridge was not working, they didnt even had a cool beer in the evening to forget about the stress of driving around in what was basically nothing more than a metal tent). We called many times, also called when hitting a pothole and having to reset the fuel supply, and when delivering the van at the end of our holiday the first thing they asked was about our unlucky meeting with a pothole and if there was any damage (no damage to the van whatsoever). When we addressed al our complaints about loose screws, drawers being wonky and lack of maintance, they just shrugged and said: well, that is what you can expect when hiring a campervan. Oohkay..? What happened to the high standards they advertise with? So, needless to say, this was the last time we rented with Bunk, if that is their motto.

We got refunded only the first day's rent, but not the Sunday surcharge or anything to compensate the issues we have had with the electrical panel, which was a bummer. It made us feel they care a lot about money, not so much about their customers. We will be back in Scotland someday, just not in a Bunk campervan.
