“Compared to the hearing devices I have had in the past, these are the Rolls Royce of hearing aids. They are fantastic, and I have finally noticed all I have been missing out on. My life revolves around music and the church and now I can sing in tune, hear the choir and the organ, I can hear multiple frequencies. It makes life much easier for my family too" Marna Savage, Campaign for Better Hearing Recipient.

“The quality of the hearing aids I am wearing are state of the art. I used to back off when in group situations, I was scared to get involved in case I missed something, but with my new hearing devices I know what’s going on around” Leroy Dempster, latest Campaign for Better Hearing recipient.

We all make mistakes hearing things at times, you mishear, and your friends can turn around and look at you like you’re an idiot – but if you have hearing loss and you’re getting that ten times a day it’s going to really damage your confidence says audiologist, Andrew MacPherson who fitted, Leroy Dempster with hearing devices this week as part of the Campaign for Better Hearing Give Back Programme.

Hearing loss is shockingly prevalent across Northern Ireland. In fact, 1 in 4 adults in Northern Ireland suffer from at least a mild hearing loss. By the age of 55, 1 in 7 people report a significant deterioration in hearing and this rises to 1 in 3 by the age of 65.

Just like most animals, we are born with two ears. Our two ears work together so we can determine where sounds are coming from and choose what we want to listen to. #campaignforbetterhearing #testyourearsat50years #hearingloss

Hearing loss can seriously affect people’s social lives because conversations take so much more mental energy, and yet they still can’t hear everything that’s being said. As a result, untreated hearing loss can cause people to withdraw and become isolated. Hearing is as individual as your DNA. We all experience sound differently because our perceptions of sound are based on our unique life experiences. This means that the more personalised that hearing care can be, the more natural the sound that people can hear. #hearingloss #campaignforbetterhearing #testyourearsat50years

Hearing loss is tiring because we get less detailed sound, which means we have to use more energy to translate sound into meaning. However, with more detailed sound, it takes less effort – that’s why hearing aids help so much. #campaignforbetterhearing #testyourearsat50years
