User

Went this evening for a meal and it was amazing. Top quality food and desserts/gelato from downstairs! The service was very good also. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back great to have such an amazing place in Carrick!

User

Went there for lunch today. Couldn’t see a vegan option but the really helpful waiter said he’d ask the chef to see what he could put together! He came back with a number of options and I said surprise me. Well he didn’t half...absolutely gorgeous warm salad...it was obvious the chef had put in the effort to make it really tasty. It should be on the menu! Will definitely be back. Great spot and service was top notch too!

User

Was in for lunch today and it was superb. The staff were all very friendly , the Sunday roast sharing platter was excellent , it looked great and tasted even better . I would highly recommend this restaurant!

User

Very impressed a lot better than i had anticipated. Great ambience and well trained helpful staff who made for a great experience. Nice touch of bread and oils given while checking the menu and wine list.

Good selection of red, rosy, and white wines to choose from. Menu was good also with lots to of pizzas and Italian dishes. Looking forward to my next visit and asking for table 2 or 4 with a view over looking Belfast lough.

Superb spot for a Sunday lunch yesterday. Pizzas were truly authentic and delicious. Kids devoured them. My fish was cooked to perfection and at a very reasonable price. This is a quality establishment, offering a food experience that’s a cut above the rest. Worthy of a 1st, 2nd or 10th visit! Ps the after dinner mint gelato is worthy of a visit itself.

User

Popped in for a coffee after a 🚲 to Carrick.

Nice decor, a fence to keep the bike safe.

Beut scone with jam and cream ( which do you put on first)?

And a lovely machiatto, which the girl remembered to bring after I eaten the scone and drank my tin, as I’d requested.

Want to try the restaurant soon.

User

Our first visit here, absolutely lovely staff, our granddaughter wanted ice cream and the waitress brought her up so she could pick one she liked. Food was really nice and very well presented. My wife only drinks rose wine and their Crane Lake was so so nice. Would really recommend this restaurant and we look forward to our return.

User

My son and daughter in law recommended Castello Italia so we called in for lunch and we were not disappointed. The service and food was excellent, staff were very attentive and friendly and gave us a free top up of coffee too. We would certainly recommend this lovely restaurant to our friends.

User

Last minute choice for lunch, had only been for dinner once before but was not disappointed. The food was amazing and so was the service. All the staff were warm and friendly which really makes the difference! Special mention to Charmaine who brought our girls round to pick their own ice cream (they thought this was amazing!) would highly recommend the carbonara and also the kids pasta and meatballs! Can’t wait to try again for dinner!

User

First time having evening dinner here tonight, although we have been to the coffee shop part on a number of occasions either for lunch or for afternoon coffee.

Staff very attentive and helpful during our dinner. Food good, staff were knowledgeable about the food itself and made a good recommendation for wine choice. As a result 4 happy customers enjoyed their evening. Two of us will be back for our wedding anniversary meal later this month.

User

Finally got to try this restaurant for lunch today and was so impressed. Fab atmosphere, amazing views and gorgeous food. The staff were really attentive and friendly, can't wait to go back for dinner.

User

A totally gorgeous evening, service was first class, food was delicious and a great drinks menu! Our waitress was a total diamond if we could have taken her home we would! Can’t wait to come back

User

A lot of hype about this restaurant... So..... hype completely justified. Had dinner tonight. The best steak I think I have ever had, beautiful mussels and rissoto. Lovely views from the restaurant and wonderful staff.. Sinead in particular. Great night.

User

It is a lovely restuarant and the staff are brilliant and customer service is excellent. We celebrated my daughter's birthday in June and very much enjoyed our meal. The only downside was the bill. We were charged a service charge over a table of six people which isn't stated on the menu or when making the booking. We were told after finding this that is is discretionary, but it doesnt state that on the bill itself and we had already had the staff tip set aside. It was removed as we wanted the staff to get the tip not the business and wonder how many people have not noticed this.

User

3.5 really but that's not an option. The staff are friendly and it's a lovely atmosphere but the vegetarian options are limited and never change so we have had to give up on going there. The gnocchi is OK (the first time I had it, it was disgusting and I didnt eat it but my husband had it a second time and it was much nicer, so I may have got a bad dish. The other option for me is what is basically spaghetti in a tomato and chilli sauce, which I would make for myself at home (I generally don't go out and pay for food I can make myself). There is always the option for pizza and it is good enough but I personally go to an Italian for the gnocchi or pasta. And there is risotto which we have not tried (don't like) so can't comment on.

The food we have had has been fine. But that is all and so I can't really rate it as a 4 for that reason not it does deserve more than 3. I do know plenty of other people who have been and loved their food (meat eaters). So this review really just reflects our personal tastes as vegetarians who totally adore Italian food. Even if the gnocchi would change now and then so it's not always with blue cheese sauce and the veggie pasta option could vary, we would come back. It is a lovely place to be for your meal.

Having been 4 times now i have been underwhelmed the last 2 and because of the lack of variety for veggie options I don't think we would go back but I am glad to see some variety in the eateries of Carrick and this definitely has its place.

User

Unfortunately we didn’t get to try the food for lunch , even though the restaurant was not busy . My daughter and I went there with her 5 month old baby , we were given a menu an told to take a seat , after that no one came near us or offered us anything to drink , people coming in after us didn’t seem to have a problem , needless to say the menus were handed back and I told staff that they were obviously too busy for us

Overpriced and overrated

Went here last night. Although I can’t fault the service, the food was well below par for a restaurant that fancies itself as upmarket ..

3 members of our party ordered steak and all three steaks were poor quality and riddled with fat.

Dessert wasn’t much better, cheeseboard came with hairs stuck to the cheese..

Someone at our table complained about the food but it was in vain, they took the price of 2 desserts of the bill as a goodwill gesture.. a tenner or something off from 3 inedible fatty steaks that cost £69 and to top it off they slapped a £25 service charge on the bill..

In total it was near £300 for 6 of us along with a few drinks too.. I don’t mind paying good money for good food but I don’t like paying good money for poor food and that’s what we got at Castello..

User

Waited half hour on chicken, green pesto and cheese toastie, Seriouly like! It was just warn bread with pesto on with bit chicken in the middle. Staff need learn to smile. Defo won't be back

User

Unfortunately I did not have the opportunity to taste from the menu of Castello’s. On Friday we planned to go for lunch, downstairs. The restaurant was NOT busy.

We arrived with two members of staff behind the coffee bar. My fiancé asked whether we took a seat or needed to be seated. We were told to take a seat, no menus were given. We witnessed other customers being seated and handed menus. My fiancé went and got our menus from the entrance.

10 minutes later we decided to ask whether we could place our order from the till, as no members of staff came near us. We were told they would be over in a minute. Nobody appeared. We yet again asked a young girl working to take our order, she again said a few minutes. She stood at the tills talking, did not come back but instead began clearing tables.

The duty manager then waited tables next to us and then walked back to the tills again. We made eye contact and he didn’t even ask us if we were being served.

I decided we should leave, as I was appalled at this customer service from what is meant to be a very “high standard” restaurant. While walking out, without even ordering drinks, the duty manager came out the door after us. He apologised for “the wait”, in a not very busy environment. Very unprofessional running after customers. I’m disappointed as we have never tried Castello’s. Unfortunately the poor customer service and experience has given a negative view towards Castello’s, without even trying food.
