Discover the varieties of wild edibles found during early spring in this foraging session with local forager & student herbalist Luke Heron & herbalist Jonny Reddick mIRH Cave Hill Herbalist - Belfast at the Helen’s Bay Organic farm. The country is covered in farms and gardens which harbour a huge variety of wild edible & medicinal plants, both useful and delicious. The tour will end with a chat around a deliciously prepared organic lunch, we may even try some things we forag...e! Chances are they grow in your back yard or between concrete in your drive. Our aim is that you can walk away being able to use plants that grow around your garden or yard. Come learn about them with us.
This season’s foraging walk follows Luke & Jonny on their trail around the Helen’s Bay Organic farm. Discover what useful plants may grow in the countryside or even in your garden, as well as the edible weeds growing in poly-tunnels. Learn how to identify some herbs, their names, stories, where to look for them, how to collect & use them both as food as well as their traditional medicinal use.
The foraging event will conclude with lunch at 13h using local organic produce from the farm.
The walk can be quite information heavy and is geared towards adults. Children can go but must be supervised by an adult.
