No public inquiry into 'Clerical Abuse' has ever been set up in N. Ireland and victims, supported by Amnesty International, have been calling for one for years. But their calls have fallen on the deaf ears of local politicians, the police and judiciary services. It will be interesting to see if pope Francis addresses these issues tomorrow in Dublin..

At last Counselling may soon be more readily available in N.I.

Worryingly, suicide rates in N. Ireland have soared at a much faster rate than the rest of the UK. Studies have revealed that the prevalence of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), in N Ireland has the highest rates out of the 30 countries examined, including South Africa and Lebanon.

Circumstances that promote despair and addiction – are with each decade more entrenched in the industrialized world:- more STRESS, more ECONOMIC INSECURITY, more INEQUALITY, more FEAR, more ANXIETY among youth, more ISOLATION and LONELINESS. As noted in a recent media article: “You have 2,672 friends and an average of 30 likes per post and no one to have dinner with on a Saturday.” 😨 No wonder our society is rife with every manner of escapist compulsions and addictions.

Oprah's drive, determination and compassion despite poverty & abuse is awesome, what a great role model for young people. 😮😍
