I had heard plenty of dismal reviews about Charles Hurst from friends and family, but yesterday I got to experience it for myself.

I called in on Thursday afternoon needing some work done on my bike before the MOT was up, I’d been to Hurst before and had had no major issues, so I ignored the advice of many and decided to return. Initially everything was fine, I was told by Peter that I could leave the bike in on Saturday and that the work would be finished before 5pm on Monday. After leaving on Thursday afternoon, I then realised it would suit my weekend plans better if I dropped the bike off on Thursday to collect on Monday, so I phoned and was told by Peter that this wouldn’t be an issue, and so the bike was left in Boucher from Thursday evening (I think I was also told my bike would be kept inside the garage, but this didn’t happen). Happy with the service up to this point, I went ahead and booked in for my MOT on Monday evening.

Monday came around as I waited for the call to come collect my bike, after waiting for most of the afternoon I decided to phone to see if there were any issues, my call went unanswered for several minutes. As 5pm approached I decided to call down in person, only to find my bike exactly where I left it 4 days previously, with the work clearly not even started. When I eventually got speaking to Peter after a substantial wait, I was told that the parts weren’t even due to arrive until Tuesday afternoon. Peter refused to acknowledge that I had initially been told to leave my bike in on Saturday to collect on Monday, and insisted that I had been told to leave my bike in on Monday, but had decided to leave it in on Thursday for no apparent reason.

So here I am today, with 5 days wasted as well as the fee for a useless MOT which was too late to cancel or change. But, on a positive note, at least now I know not to ignore the multiple accounts of friends and family, and Charles Hurst Motorcycles have lost a potential customer for life.

Wouldn't buy a bike anywhere else. Amazing after care! Great guys!
