With it being Easter Sunday I knew it was going to be busy but the waitress went out of her way to accommodate our extra guests, the place was packed but never felt rushed and were given plenty of time to enjoy our dinner

Went last night for Thursday steak night. Steaks were amazing done as requested everything was pipping hot and the pepper sauce was so tasty and onion rings so crispy. Waitress was nice and drinks order was taken and with us in seconds. Left completely stuffed. 2 steak dinners 2 bottles beer and 2 vodka and diet whites bill was £35 very good value. Definately be back.

Me and my mum had a lovly meal there yesterday food was delicious and staff were really welcoming and friendly, will definitly be back soon �

Had a family get together for my grandsons Christening yesteday, buffet food was gorg as always, all the kids had fun and there was no isses with the kids playing and enjoying themselves. Later on the adults went to the new refurbished bar and were well impressed with the athmopshere and the music group was brilliant. Loads of fun for adults and children, great day had by all. Big thanks from the Ferguson and Gregg families for ensuring everyone that attended had a brilliant day.

Even though I've been working there for 22 years I have to say we had my boy Conlaoch's christening in the Chester yesterday and it was brilliant.

The food was excellent and all the staff couldn't have done enough for me, my family and friends.

Went last night and although told waitress food was fine didn’t want to upset her she was lovely steak came raw all round side medium rare asked for n roast beef was ordered n was like driftwood always have loved food in Chester but somthing has changed

Very disappointed when i was here on Monday for lunch i had the chicken gougons with garlic potatoes and they were all batter very little chicken and very dry. I love coming here but not on this occasion also thought the lunch menu was very limited with a few of the my favourites removed.

Just left here and based on those meals wont be back three out four starters came and when the soup arrived it was cold. I ordered cajun chicken for my main and it came with gravy all over very weird taste together. Goujons for my cousin were greasy and hard had better in Brights in town and not once did anyone come to see if we needed anything or wanted another drink. And the steaks looked so so dry.



Also my Dad went to the toilets before he left and came out disgusted that one of the servers had been in at the same time and didnt even bother washing his hands before he left

Garlic butter had no garlic just melted butter

Servers NEVER asked how the meal was to bissy looking at each other

What can I say? I’m totally disgusted with this place. For years and years this has been our “go to” restaurant. We told everyone about it, about the great service, the super value and the amazing food... oh how things have changed! We haven’t been in a while because we had heard some pretty rough reviews but tonight we thought we’d give it a go again, BIG MISTAKE! The place has been decorated sometime recently which has obviously led to the HUGE increase in price and change of menu. The new menu has a poor selection, there are no specials and there is no longer an early bird option. The Chester used to be a people’s place, where ordinary people could go and were guaranteed a good, decent, hearty meal but this is definitely not the case now. With all this new decor it feels like it’s more a “wanna be hipster” restaurant that you’d find on this lisburn road than the good old Chester that we used to know and love but it fails miserably living up to the hipster side too. Tonight we ordered soup for starters, it was far from hot. It wasn’t cold but it wasn’t far off. We ordered sirloin steak for our main course. It was fatty and full of gristle, more of both of these than actual steak. We got a half portion of pepper sauce and I mean it was tiny and our steak arrived without onion rings. It was ridiculous! I spoke to the waitress about how bad the steak was and I was informed that “sirloin steak is like that”. She then spoke to the manager and came back with the same response “sirloin is just like that”. Not satisfactory at all! It was a disgrace! Awful food! Terrible value for money! Will most definitely NOT be back!!

Went to the chester last Saturday for the first time in over two years with my fiancee, the food was just ok but the price was absolutely disgraceful, we both had battered mushrooms for starters which tasted like they had been microwaved. For mains I ordered sirloin steak and my fiancee had lasagne which to be fair tasted lovely with the exception of the veg we each had a small bottle of west coast cooler. Then came the receipt, £20 for a sirloin steak and a further £2.50 for a small amount of over cooked vegetables after being told by the waitress the meal included veg, all in the price came to £50, I dont think I'll be back any time soon.

Went here today with my family after a nice day out from picking my nieces wedding dress waitress Joanne was lovely but food was shocking cold and tasteless there was 2 tables when we went in and we waited ages between meals and deserts 3 deserts ordered and it took that long we thought they forgot also the place was freezing will defo not be back my sister was even sick when she got home awful I will not recommend this place to anyone�

We were here for a birthday meal last night and I have to say being long standing customers we were extremely disappointed. We were seated at a table beside the bar where the staff seemed to congregate rather than serve customers. It seemed they were more interested in chatting and selling shoes to each other than ensuring their tables were ok. The food was mostly ok but we couldn't speak for desserts as once our mains were cleared from the table no one came near us again. We weren't asked did we want dessert, tea or coffee or drinks. The language of the door staff was appalling and the fact they stood smoking at the door was ridiculous.

It is extremely clear that the Chester has gone drastically downhill as was evident from the number of empty tables. Suffice to say based on the poor service we will not be returning to what used to be our favourite place to go. I would hope they get their act together before they lose all custom.

Tried booking a party here but kept being told the restaurant manager would ring me back to discuss options. A week later still no contact so took my business elsewhere. Not professional at all.

Never had a meal like it !!! Ordered medium steak came rare sent it back came back half medium half rare which I waited 15 minutes to be returned. my children had finished when it came back i ordered chips and it came back with garlic potatoes so ended up trying cold chips and as for the manager didnt do anything to rectify the problem at the time I had to phone when I got home to be told come back up to the restaurant and I'll refund your steak how embarrassing why couldn't this be done at the time � appalling

I had booked a table for a family lunch after my father's anniversary mass. We stood at the booking table for a good 5 minutes before someone acknowledged us and told us the manager would sit us shortly. My mother is 86 and not really fit to stand. We were then seated by the manager who firmly told us they were only operating omfrom the Sunday lunch menu. We ordered a bottle of wine which was not in stock and were given house red but charged for the more expensive wine (that was sorted on the next round of drinks) on ordering my meal I asked if I could have baby boiled potatoes but was told not on a Sunday !! Our lunches came mine was supposed to be gammon steak it was more like thick cut bacon and dried up too.. served with a handful of frozen veg mix, to add insult to injury the waitress came back with a portion of garlic saute!!!! after being told only mash roasties served on a sunday obviously some one was allowed to order off the Sunday menu. the waitress came to check on us after everyone had eaten. I voiced my complaint she did offer to replace meal but everyone else was finished she did waive the price of my meal off the bill, and she herself was very nice I understand she is not responsible for the kitchen. The whole experience for me was ruined and it was already an emotional day

Had dinner here tonight , The waitress and waiter were lovely as usual, But the food was dreadful, I had soup for starter, which was cold and not nice at all, roast beef for mains, which was dry the yorkshire pudding was microwaved and impossible to cut through. My partner had chicken wings for starters and a texas burger for mains, it was served with cold, greasy and soggy onion rings and was dry and over cooked.

Wasn't going to risk desert, I have always enjoyed the Chester, But I definitely won't be back after tonight, You NEED to change the chef !

My partner had chicken wings for starters and a texas burger for mains, it was served with cold, greasy and soggy onion rings and was dry and over cooked.

Wasn't going to risk desert, I have always enjoyed the Chester, But I definitely won't be back after tonight, You NEED to change the chef !



Monday now, spent most of the night the bathroom throwing up...

With it being Easter Sunday I knew it was going to be busy but the waitress went out of her way to accommodate our extra guests, the place was packed but never felt rushed and were given plenty of time to enjoy our dinner

Went last night for Thursday steak night. Steaks were amazing done as requested everything was pipping hot and the pepper sauce was so tasty and onion rings so crispy. Waitress was nice and drinks order was taken and with us in seconds. Left completely stuffed. 2 steak dinners 2 bottles beer and 2 vodka and diet whites bill was £35 very good value. Definately be back.

Had a family get together for my grandsons Christening yesteday, buffet food was gorg as always, all the kids had fun and there was no isses with the kids playing and enjoying themselves. Later on the adults went to the new refurbished bar and were well impressed with the athmopshere and the music group was brilliant. Loads of fun for adults and children, great day had by all. Big thanks from the Ferguson and Gregg families for ensuring everyone that attended had a brilliant day.

Even though I've been working there for 22 years I have to say we had my boy Conlaoch's christening in the Chester yesterday and it was brilliant.

The food was excellent and all the staff couldn't have done enough for me, my family and friends.

Went last night and although told waitress food was fine didn’t want to upset her she was lovely steak came raw all round side medium rare asked for n roast beef was ordered n was like driftwood always have loved food in Chester but somthing has changed

Very disappointed when i was here on Monday for lunch i had the chicken gougons with garlic potatoes and they were all batter very little chicken and very dry. I love coming here but not on this occasion also thought the lunch menu was very limited with a few of the my favourites removed.

Just left here and based on those meals wont be back three out four starters came and when the soup arrived it was cold. I ordered cajun chicken for my main and it came with gravy all over very weird taste together. Goujons for my cousin were greasy and hard had better in Brights in town and not once did anyone come to see if we needed anything or wanted another drink. And the steaks looked so so dry.



Also my Dad went to the toilets before he left and came out disgusted that one of the servers had been in at the same time and didnt even bother washing his hands before he left

Food was not great

Apple crumble was no Apple

Dinner was dry

Garlic butter had no garlic just melted butter

Servers NEVER asked how the meal was to bissy looking at each other

What can I say? I’m totally disgusted with this place. For years and years this has been our “go to” restaurant. We told everyone about it, about the great service, the super value and the amazing food... oh how things have changed! We haven’t been in a while because we had heard some pretty rough reviews but tonight we thought we’d give it a go again, BIG MISTAKE! The place has been decorated sometime recently which has obviously led to the HUGE increase in price and change of menu. The new menu has a poor selection, there are no specials and there is no longer an early bird option. The Chester used to be a people’s place, where ordinary people could go and were guaranteed a good, decent, hearty meal but this is definitely not the case now. With all this new decor it feels like it’s more a “wanna be hipster” restaurant that you’d find on this lisburn road than the good old Chester that we used to know and love but it fails miserably living up to the hipster side too. Tonight we ordered soup for starters, it was far from hot. It wasn’t cold but it wasn’t far off. We ordered sirloin steak for our main course. It was fatty and full of gristle, more of both of these than actual steak. We got a half portion of pepper sauce and I mean it was tiny and our steak arrived without onion rings. It was ridiculous! I spoke to the waitress about how bad the steak was and I was informed that “sirloin steak is like that”. She then spoke to the manager and came back with the same response “sirloin is just like that”. Not satisfactory at all! It was a disgrace! Awful food! Terrible value for money! Will most definitely NOT be back!!

Went to the chester last Saturday for the first time in over two years with my fiancee, the food was just ok but the price was absolutely disgraceful, we both had battered mushrooms for starters which tasted like they had been microwaved. For mains I ordered sirloin steak and my fiancee had lasagne which to be fair tasted lovely with the exception of the veg we each had a small bottle of west coast cooler. Then came the receipt, £20 for a sirloin steak and a further £2.50 for a small amount of over cooked vegetables after being told by the waitress the meal included veg, all in the price came to £50, I dont think I'll be back any time soon.

Went here today with my family after a nice day out from picking my nieces wedding dress waitress Joanne was lovely but food was shocking cold and tasteless there was 2 tables when we went in and we waited ages between meals and deserts 3 deserts ordered and it took that long we thought they forgot also the place was freezing will defo not be back my sister was even sick when she got home awful I will not recommend this place to anyone�

We were here for a birthday meal last night and I have to say being long standing customers we were extremely disappointed. We were seated at a table beside the bar where the staff seemed to congregate rather than serve customers. It seemed they were more interested in chatting and selling shoes to each other than ensuring their tables were ok. The food was mostly ok but we couldn't speak for desserts as once our mains were cleared from the table no one came near us again. We weren't asked did we want dessert, tea or coffee or drinks. The language of the door staff was appalling and the fact they stood smoking at the door was ridiculous.

It is extremely clear that the Chester has gone drastically downhill as was evident from the number of empty tables. Suffice to say based on the poor service we will not be returning to what used to be our favourite place to go. I would hope they get their act together before they lose all custom.

Tried booking a party here but kept being told the restaurant manager would ring me back to discuss options. A week later still no contact so took my business elsewhere. Not professional at all.

Never had a meal like it !!! Ordered medium steak came rare sent it back came back half medium half rare which I waited 15 minutes to be returned. my children had finished when it came back i ordered chips and it came back with garlic potatoes so ended up trying cold chips and as for the manager didnt do anything to rectify the problem at the time I had to phone when I got home to be told come back up to the restaurant and I'll refund your steak how embarrassing why couldn't this be done at the time � appalling

I had booked a table for a family lunch after my father's anniversary mass. We stood at the booking table for a good 5 minutes before someone acknowledged us and told us the manager would sit us shortly. My mother is 86 and not really fit to stand. We were then seated by the manager who firmly told us they were only operating omfrom the Sunday lunch menu. We ordered a bottle of wine which was not in stock and were given house red but charged for the more expensive wine (that was sorted on the next round of drinks) on ordering my meal I asked if I could have baby boiled potatoes but was told not on a Sunday !! Our lunches came mine was supposed to be gammon steak it was more like thick cut bacon and dried up too.. served with a handful of frozen veg mix, to add insult to injury the waitress came back with a portion of garlic saute!!!! after being told only mash roasties served on a sunday obviously some one was allowed to order off the Sunday menu. the waitress came to check on us after everyone had eaten. I voiced my complaint she did offer to replace meal but everyone else was finished she did waive the price of my meal off the bill, and she herself was very nice I understand she is not responsible for the kitchen. The whole experience for me was ruined and it was already an emotional day

Had dinner here tonight , The waitress and waiter were lovely as usual, But the food was dreadful, I had soup for starter, which was cold and not nice at all, roast beef for mains, which was dry the yorkshire pudding was microwaved and impossible to cut through.
