****YOUNG FILMMAKING TALENT CELEBRATED AT CINEMAGIC BFI FILM ACADEMY SHOWCASE***
The creative work of 21 talented young filmmakers, aged 16-19 years old from Northern Ireland, was celebrated at the weekend at the annual showcase of the BFI (British Film Institute Film) Academy programme, delivered by Cinemagic.
The programme equips local young filmmakers, who are passionate about film, with the knowledge, skills, insight, confidence and practical training to help lay strong ...foundations for their pursuit of a career in the film industry.
The 21 participants attended film and television masterclasses and Q&A sessions at Cinemagic Belfast on various film disciplines from the history of film, right through to story development, directing, producing, film criticism, film finance and marketing and distribution.
In addition to the industry and skills training and access to top professionals, the young filmmaking trainees worked in groups to make two short films, which they showcased on the final day of the Academy to an invited audience and industry guests including Alison Crinion from The Industry Trust/Loviemovies.ie, Peter Weil, Directors Brian Kirk, Michael Lennox, Patrick Maxwell Congratulations to everyone involved!

After last year's sell-out Halloween Show we are delighted to welcome Mr Hullabaloo back to Cinemagic for FAIRY TALE FARM.
Throughout this special storytelling event, children will be invited to take part in a series of interactive story adventures, watching in amazement as three classic farmyard fairy tales (Jack & the Beanstock, The Three Little Pigs and Bobbin & the Ugly Duckling) unfold before their very eyes.
By combining a little fairy-tale magic and captivating adventure, a story shared with us is guaranteed to provide lots of fun for all!

... The future of Europe has never been more hotly debated. Cinemagic Film Festival presents #EUandMe, a special free screening of five short films in Light House Cinema Dublin exploring the key challenges faced by European countries today: from sustainability, to mobility and equality. Directed by leading filmmakers drawn from across the European Union, #EUandMe is a timely exploration of some of the most pressing issues of our time.
The screening will be followed by a panel discussion and debate exploring the issues raised in the films. Presented in partnership with European Commission Representation in Ireland and Eclipse Pictures.
