Thought for the Week //
At the beginning of the book of Matthew it states many times "that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet sayingโ€ฆ." The prophets of the Old Testament, through the Holy Spirit, foresaw these things that would happen in future. These things that they spoke about were fulfilled because God had said them, and He is the one who says that His word will not return to Him void. What He says will take place. Jesus Himself says in Matthew 26:5...4 "how then could the Scriptures be fulfilled, that say that it must happen this way". Also in Acts 1:16 the Apostle, Peter, says "this Scripture had to be fulfilled which the Holy Spirit spoke".
The Scriptures are God's words and they also show how He worked in people's lives. This all points to an assurance for us today that whatever God has spoken to us, will happen. God's word is trustworthy and nothing can stand in the way of what He has said. Sometimes the process to that fulfilment may not be according to our time, or in exactly the way we thought it would be, but whatever the situation you face God's word is steadfast. His Word to you will be just as He said.

Who is the Greatest?
We live in a world today where competition and the need to be the best at what we do is probably more prevalent than ever. It's common in all walks of life, not just in sporting circles, but we can not ignore the news over the past week, as we have seen thousands from all over the world coming to watch The Open Golf tournament and indeed as it was watched all over the world, to see who would be hailed, the best, the greatest at ...the end of the tournament.
It seems to be now that every week our eyes are glued to the TV to watch some sporting event or cup or championship, from football, Motorsport, Rugby , Cricket, Cycling and the list is endless. Sport is not the only form of competition though, it can be quiz shows , singing, dancing, reality shows and even politics as we are soon to get a new Prime Minister. Even in our own daily lives there is a degree of competitiveness in all of us to be the best in all we do.
Although as I said it is very prevalent now, it is not a new thing, even in the Bible it can be seen. In Matthew 18, 1-7 where the Disciples came to Jesus and asked, who is the greatest in the kingdom of Heaven, they were not content with being competitive down here, they were already thinking about their position in Heaven. Jesus gave an answer that maybe always didnโ€™t please them and indeed made them think in a different way and consider something they hadnโ€™t even thought of. Maybe thatโ€™s what we need to do when we are looking for answers , to change our mind set. Jesus put a little child in middle of them and told them unless they became as little children, they would never see the Kingdom of Heaven. Jesus was trying to point out the innocence of a child, the simple faith of a child, the directness of a child, a child has no thought of status. In fact Jesus was pointing out that it was not about competition but about character, it was about how we lives in His eyes, not our own or the worlds. Jesus was not against their quest for greatness but against their way in doing it and He was trying to direct them on the correct path for greatness, through humility and faith.

Some ๐Ÿ“ธ from today's sessions!
Simon shared with the young people that we were not just made by God, but we were made for God!
... Colossians 1:16 - "for through him (Jesus) God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can't see--such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created THROUGH him and FOR him." ๐Ÿ™
