Some of the nicest young people I have ever met, right up there with the United States Naval Academy and that's a high level of character to reach.
Served in 1st & 2nd Battalions CG great memories through some tough times. But great mates still to day 30 years on, old brothers and New brothers BRB. #onlyforthebrave&adventurous
Served from 80-86 in mainly 1btn with a short stint in 2nd. Thoroughly enjoyed it made good lifelong friend and if asked would I recommend it to anyone.
Absolutely.
Joined the 2nd Battalion in Fallingbostel in Aug 81 and left the services in Feb 2004. A truly second to none experience, one I would do all over again. A “gleaming time with fantastic mates, friends for life”!
It's the best regiment in the British Army and I am so proud that my son served with the finest.
I served from 84 till 06 and loved every minute, made some great long lasting friend
I served from 1979 leaving the Guards Depot to go to my first posting in Caterham to the 2nd Battalion joining No 4 Coy.
Excellent experience leaving the 2nd Battalion in 1993 due to suspended Animation.
I would have served 22 yrs if the 2nd Battalion would have continued.
Finished in 1996 after finishing in Warminster School of infantry.
Would do it all again tomorrow.
The only environment where friends are friends and for life.
Never in civvy street will you feel the pride and joy of serving with many excellent individuals.

I served for 25years with both 1st and 2nd Bn, love every minute and would happily do it all again, people I served with were second to none.
I loved my time served (2003-2010) in 1st Bn & 7 Coy Coldstream Guards, it’s the best thing I’ve ever done by far.
I had the privalige of serving with this regiment, one of the 7 finest in the British Army for sixteen years before rebadging Army Air Corps, I believe I was the first from the ranks to pass pilot training ever?
Hey everybody,
I hope this finds you all well and in good health?
Question; have you ever heard of Dragon Token?
It’s a relatively new cryptocurrency, which has a fierce reputation and is living up to its name.
Former Royal Marines Commando ‘Paul Moynan’ is a co-founder of Dragon and his experience with Her Majesty’s Royal Marines Commandos has added an aggressive driving style to his social responsibility ethos within his business model.
Dragon has been on the radar for just over 3 months now and already they have become heavily involved in support and sponsorship for various events that involve serving/former servicemen and women.
Three of which are Team Brit, Rus McDonagh and the Marathon des Sables and the Great Pacific Race (Cockleshell Endeavor)
Team Brit – “Team BRIT is a competitive motor racing team consisting of disabled drivers. Many are ex or serving military troops who have sustained serious injuries and are disabled. We are a competitive racing team, not a charity, and we race against teams of able-bodied drivers on a totally level playing field — something that no other sport can offer. We aim to make racing history and take a team to the world famous Le Mans 24hr endurance race, becoming the first ever all-disabled team to do so”
The Great Pacific Race (Cockleshell Endeavor) - Two former Royal Marines, Steve Sparkes and Mick Dawson, are preparing to row across the Pacific Ocean in the Great Pacific Race. Sparkes lost his sight due to a diving accident during his service in the Corps, and the men aim to raise awareness and money for two charities, Blind Veterans UK and The Royal Marine Charity. The men will set off on June 2, 2018 and row 2,400 miles from California to Hawaii. They will be among a fleet of up to 20 competitors, and it will take between 50 and 60 days to finish their voyage. Dawson is a professional sailor and one of the most experienced rowers in the world. He’s had various adventures including rowing the Atlantic Ocean twice and has a Guinness World Record, as he successfully skippered the first and only rowing boat across The North Pacific Ocean.
Marathon des Sables, or MdS, (French for Marathon of the Sands, also known as Sahara Marathon) is a six-day, 251 km (156 mi) ultra-marathon, which is approximately the distance of six regular marathons. ... This multiday race is held every year in southern Morocco, in the Sahara Desert. Former Royal Marine Rus McDonagh will attempting to complete MdS this year under sponsorship from Dragon.
Further to the support of veterans and wounded servicemen/women, Dragon have secured partnerships with other sports entities on an international level.
Formula E Team Techeetah - The Techeetah Formula E Team is a Chinese motor racing team under ownership of SECA - China Media Capital that competes in the electric racing series, Formula E. The team entered the sport following the acquisition of Team Aguri and, like Dragon, has been going from strength to strength. Their latest success being at Punta del Este on March 17th when they took Pole Position.
These sponsorships and support provided by Dragon allow serving/former injured/able-bodied members of the forces and other members of the public/professional individuals to reach their goals and fulfill their dreams.
The social responsibility aspect of Dragon has really highlighted the ‘give-back’ intentions of the company and the buck doesn’t stop here.
Other internationally recognised organisations and companies who are/will be partnered or sponsored by Dragon are: Dragonbet8, 7Luck Casinos, The Asian Golf Tour among many others to be announced…..

My Father, Terry Flaherty, from York, was in the Coldstream Guards. He died a couple of years ago, aged 82. Used to tell us that his time in the guards was the best in his life. Used to stand on guard outside Buckingham Palace. Used to tell us that when off duty he would walk from one end of London to the other.
Hi Boys, Mac Finkill here, or what is left of him since the 'Doc's had their pound of
'mutton'. I try and keep up with events, but the brain box gets tired these days.
Best regards to all my 'Best Mates' it was a honour to serve with you.
Keep Safe... Mac
As an former-Grenadier [1953-56 and a bit tacked on for the Suez issue] I found the remarks about the superiority of your regiment hard to take...but, pride is the thing... we are all guardsmen!! I was hoping to find someone who could give me the regimental bio of Glenny [Glenn] Bishop. He was my boss in the Edmonton Police Dept. in the early seventies, and died recently. He was in his nineties...
Can anyone supply his regimental number, rank war record etc. He was a Gordie, apparently proud of that fact.. which would explain his funny accent!! I am originally from Hampshire!
