Coleraine Taekwondo Description

Taekwondo as a sport has over 60 million practitioners in 184 countries. It originates from South Korea where the world governing body, the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF), is currently based.

The modern form of Taekwondo was not agreed until 1955, but the sport has its roots in various Korean forms of martial arts stretching back more than 2, 000 years.

The name Taekwondo literally translates as the way of the foot and the fist.

‘Tae’ means to break or attack with the foot, ‘kwon’ means to break with the fist and ‘do’ translates as the art or way

People may not know, but there has been a Taekwondo Club in Coleraine for over 20 years. The current Head Instructor is 4th Dan Master William McLaughlin, who began training in Coleraine 21 years ago. Over this time the club has seen 15 of its members achieve the level of Black Belt, with more students pushing through the ranks each year.

The club prides itself on having a family atmosphere, with a number of our students being parents & their children.

As a member of Coleraine Taekwondo Club, you will train hard. You will be taught the techniques, trained to fight & be confident to defend yourself.

Do you have what it takes to put the work in that will be required??

If you think you have then get in touch…
