Cookstown Tai Chi Description

Tai Chi is a complete, integrated physical, mental and spiritual art that fosters the natural development of the whole person. A mainly internal art, it is a form of exercise that conditions body and mind at the same time, emphasising posture, awareness and balance. Its mode of practice makes it suitable for beginners at any age and in any physical condition. Sometimes referred to as Moving Meditation or Stillness in Motion – Tai Chi means Life and Energy.

Woven into its deceptively simple and non-strenuous movement sequences are the timeless wisdom and health secrets of the Chinese people. Traditionally the Chinese
consider Tai Chi to be part of Chinese medicine. Chinese doctors, who may also be Tai Chi practitioners, regularly prescribe it for a variety of ailments, as do some enlightened Western specialists.

The Yang Style Tai Chi is the most popular of all styles due to its big, gentle, graceful and even flow of movement. I believe many people carry around a lot of negativity and stress with them from past troubles – Tai Chi can assist in removing some of this.
