Gig news.....
She was last in Derry in Feb 2014 and all who were there on the night will remember that gig with fondness , so we are delighted to welcome this Co Cavan girl back to Derry armed with a her latest record "Heard along gone song "... . With many many gigs under her belt , it would be an under statement to say that she is a master at her chosen art form.... It doesn't get more authentic than Lisa O'Neill , truly unique in Ireland today and a very special talent
Her distinctive vocal remains her most potent and mysterious gift, containing a remarkable power, harnessing her native birth place and various great artists that have gone before. Margaret Barry comes to mind, so too, does the influence of artists like Kevin Rowland, and Andy Irvine, all singular links in the tapestry of a tradition.
The record, co-produced with Dave Odlum in Blackbox Studios, sees O’Neill folding in musicians such as Cormac Begley, Christophe Capewell, Libby McCrohan, and Radie Peat, to achieve a compelling coalescing of traditional songs and original compositions, and in doing so, she creates a musical universe that is clearly in the service of something greater.
