Creativeholisticarttherapy Limavady Description
C. H. A. T is a Holistic Art as Therapy project, catering for young, vulnerable adults suffering from mild mental health issues, disability, low self esteem, children that have offended, exclude from school and isolated from the community and their peers. The organisation is based locally within the Limavady Borough.
Activities we run include: -
• Teaching Art - Exploring personal experiences through the mediums of Art. (Drawing, Painting, Pottery, Drama, Music, Textile, Stained, Glass, Creative , Writing, Sculpture, Print Making, Presentation of work)
• Holistic Therapies - Aromatherapy, Massage, Reflexology, Acupuncture and Meditation.
• Physical exercise -
• Music Therapy ( Drumming and drawing to music)
• Community Arts
• Creative Writing
• Photography
• Computer Art
• Group Exhibition
We also offer one to one counselling which is completely confidential.
The wider aim is to bring young people together in a social setting in order to promote social inclusion and cohesion and that this experience will empower them to take ownership of their own personal mental health.

Two years ago C.H.A.T ran a Zumba class with both adults with Down Syndrome and teenagers.. It was for some the first time they had meet anyone that was different from them! I would just like to put this out there! If your kids are not around special needs kids at school and have never been taught that not everyone is the same then maybe you could take 10 min tonight to explain this to them because even though they may not be around these kids at school they will encounte...r them in their lives, as it should be. In the light of recent events on the exclusion of a child who has autism from participating in a school trip and a child with Downs Syndrome being kicked out of dance class because she couldn't keep up, I feel the need to share this. There are boys and girls that nobody invites to birthday parties. There are special kids who want to belong to a team but don't get selected because it is more important to win than include these children. Children with special needs are not rare or strange, they only want what everyone else wants: to be accepted !! For all the wonderful children out there. Can I ask a question? Is there anyone willing to copy and paste this post to their wall without sharing it, like I did for those special children out there.
