We are delighted, once again, to be hosting a series of literary talks here at Cumberland Lodge, as part of the annual Windsor Festival.
Salley Vickers, the author of nine highly acclaimed novels, comes to Cumberland Lodge, where she is a trustee, to talk about her latest book, The Librarian. Paying homage to the role of public libraries and those who work in them, Salley’s new novel tells the story of Sylvia Blackwell, a newly-trained librarian in 1958 who seeks to inspire c...hildren to read. In conversation with Alastair Niven, Salley will look back at her own childhood, what made her into a writer and why books matter more than…well, most things!

We are delighted, once again, to be hosting a series of literary talks here at Cumberland Lodge, as part of the annual Windsor Festival.
The intellectual superior of her buffoonish husband George II, Caroline of Ansbach is credited with hastening the Enlightenment to Britain through her sponsorship of red-hot debates about science, religion, philosophy and the nature of the universe. In her lifetime she was compared frequently to Elizabeth I and considered by some as ‘the cle...verest queen consort Britain ever had’, yet history has forgotten her.
In this talk journalist Matthew Dennison will reverse this neglect, uncovering the complexities of her multifaceted life: an 18th century woman of great political astuteness and ambition, a radical icon of female power.
Book now Tickets must be purchased in advance for this event, via the Windsor Festival website or by contacting the Windsor Festival Box Office on 01753 743585. Tickets are £12.50 each (incl booking fee).

We are delighted, once again, to be hosting a series of literary talks here at Cumberland Lodge, as part of the annual Windsor Festival.
Shami Chakrabarti’s latest book, Of Women, is a powerful, urgent and timely polemic on why women still need equality, and how we get there. Considered the greatest human rights abuse on the planet, not limited to one country or historical period, gender injustice is an ancient and continuing wrong. As we move forward in the 21st century, a t...ime of crisis the world over, Shami will lay out the huge challenges we face with honesty and clarity, outlining what we do next and putting women’s rights at the centre of the progressive political agenda.

Today we visited the 1 day photographic exhibition, "Where I Come From" by Bill Knight. Very engaging portraits & mini-bios of immigrants/descendants of immigrants who embody hope & optimism, and who've made great academic achievements, enriching the UK in the process. It was an inspired idea to compose portraits with the subjects' near family, adding context and dynamic interplay.

User

Superb place..Tower room was the best

User

It is a beautiful place with magnificent woodlands, horses and park too.

User

I think it a very nice place. In fact, I felt like a royal or at least a knight judging from the history that the place holds. Also, the educational purpose for which the place is kept to run is outstanding. Everything about this lodge is spot on. From the beautiful environment to the nice state of the art bedroom, conference and group studies rooms make it a place of destination weather for studies or leisure. I will definitely visit again if I have the opportunity.
