Many thanks to Sarah Grant and Andy McInroy, our pacers at parkun this week. It's a great to have volunteers able to pace on the day, and the feedback we get from fellow parkrunners is always positive.
Want to be a parkrun pacer? We have 2 vests available for each of the following times: 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 mins. You can either run alone or in a pair. Please pick up a pacer vest at the start of parkrun, set your watch to the required pace and off you go. Let the Run Director on the day know so that we can name check you in the pre-run briefing.
As a bonus you also get a parkrun volunteering credit (25 credits = parkrun volunteer t-shirt, the most prized t-shirt of them all). Remember parkrun relies on volunteers to keep our event being a success. Thanks!!!

A fantastic turnout to our 300th event today! A lovely atmosphere, and thanks to everyone who came out today to help us celebrate.
Luckily we managed to avoid the worst of the rain. In fact with very little breeze it was a fine morning for running.
Welcome to all first timers who joined us today. Hope to see you back soon.
... We also had a visitor today, all the way from Italy!
A reminder that we had a lovely article about our parkrun in yesterday's Derry Journal. It's in the athletics pages at the back of the paper, and well worth a read. Thanks again to George for his contribution to the article.
Also thanks to all our volunteers today. We are always looking for volunteers each week, if you are interest then let one of the volunteering team know or email us at derrycity@parkrun.com.

Well done to core volunteer and Run Director, George, for his contribution to this article. Just in time for our 300th event on Saturday! Also thanks to all volunteers who have given their time in making parkrun happen over the last 300 events 👏👏👏

User

Collect on Saturday if any of these items belong to you!

Announcing our new parkrun pacer vests!
We now have pacer vests for the following times: 20min, 25min, 30min, 35min and 40min.
These are available each Saturday for anyone who wants to run around our course at one of these times. Just let the Run Director know on the day that this is something you want to do, pick up a vest, set your watch and go!
... You would need a running watch, and set your pace as follows:
20 mins = 06:26/mile = 04:00/km 25 mins = 08:03/mile = 05:00/km 30 mins = 09:39/mile = 06:00/km 35 mins = 11:16/mile = 07:00/km 40 mins = 12:52/mile = 08:00/km
It's a fantastic way to help fellow parkrunners. You don't have to be per-second perfect, just in and around the time. It's also an official parkrun volunteer role so you'll get a volunteer credit for being a pacer!
Our very first pacer at Derry City parkrun is Andy McInroy, running around our course in 25mins. Thanks Andy!!!

Really enjoyed my parkrun at Derry City. My first time doing this run and I will definitely be back to have another go. Running across the bridge was amazing.

User

Nice welcome at Derry parkrun today and a good run in wet and windy conditions. Good to run in with Brian on his 2nd only parkrun and pushing a PB which he achieved. Great going with a really nice crowd and excellent and very welcome coffee and cakes in the café at the Finish. :)

Me and the hubby were up in Derry for a night away and decided to hit the park run. I couldn’t not leave a review I loved this. The run itself was a lot tougher than I was expecting but it ended up being my fastest 5km ever. The thing that stood out for me at this park run was the support. They had group completing their first 5km today and they where right up front with another group that where progressing from 5km and aiming for pbs. The marshals where really supportive of everyone but they give an extra shout to both groups along the route. This is what park run is all about! Amazing, I loved the vibe and if I’m back this way I will def hit up this park run again.
