About Ditsy Pips

Welcome to Ditsy Pips! I run crochet courses and one off workshops for beginners and more experienced crocheters from my beautiful teaching and design studio just outside Windsor.

Ditsy Pips Description

Ditsy Pips came about when I began making things for my beautiful daughter. What started as a hobby has grown to a love of making and designing. I am a full time mum to two young children and everything I sell has been handmade by me (and mostly inspired by them! ) As I make everything at home and to order I am able to accommodate custom requests and many of my items can be personalised, so if you see something that you like but want it in a different size or colour, please just send me a message. I really hope you enjoy having a look at my page - please do check out my Etsy shop too www. etsy.com/uk /shop /DitsyPips

The final pattern in my mini March sale trio is the Emily shawl. This has been reworked from the original version I first published a couple of years ago and I have to say, I love this pattern, partly for how fast it works up. It takes just under 150g/ 600m sock weight yarn and the main body of the shawl can be whizzed through.
Until the end of the weekend, Emily (main photo), plus Hunker Down and Caroline (right and middle of the second photo) are all available on Ravelry at... a discounted price using the following codes - Buy any one of the three and get 10% off with the code MARCH10 Buy any two of the three and get 15% off with the code MARCH15 Buy all three and get 20% off with the code MARCH20 Find the Hunker Down Shawl at https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/ hunker-down-2 Find the Caroline Scarf at https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/ caroline-scarf-3 Find Emily at https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/ emily-37

Teaching my biggest small to weave on a Saturday afternoon. She is much more into the idea of making fabric than crochet, but any fibre addiction she wants to share is good with me.
She wants to be an archeologist/anthropologist when she grows up and has just announced, "when I'm not digging up new cultures, I'll be weaving my own blankets". Sounds like an awesome life!
The weft is @dyecandy lace weight yarn in colourway Prairie and it's working into a beautiful, softly colou...r changing textile.

Very sadly, the Bower Cafe at Hill View Farm has had to close, so unfortunately the monthly Friday evening crochet sessions in Saunderton Lee will not be continuing. It has been very lovely indeed to meet all of you who have come along to one of the sessions, and if I am able to find am alternative local venue to start the group back up I will.

@yarnlovechallenge Day 14 - Yarn Love I have been incredibly lucky with the people that I've met on this crochet journey and the support I have had from others has blown me away. There are two indie dyers in particular though that I am enormously grateful to, for the opportunities they have given me and the faith they have shown in me as a designer (faith I haven't always honestly had in myself). One is Hutch from @dyecandy, the other is Natasha from @hillviewfarmmoments. The...y are totally different to each other and I love the challenges that their very different yarns bring. I have learnt SO much from working with both of them, so thought today would be a good day to say thank you. 💚 The heart in the photo is made Dabbler yarn in shade Norwegian Pine by Hill View Farm (on the left) and Super Sock in shade Mother Earth by Dye Candy (on the right). I believe we are all stronger when we lift each other up. X

I've been out and about with @sophiebalchin this morning while she took some photos of my patterns for me. From the couple I saw on her camera screen, I can't wait to see the finished photos! This one was taken by me and is the Caroline Scarf in Dabbler yarn, shade Jam, hand dyed by Natasha from @hillviewfarmmoments Both the pattern and Natasha's stunning yarn will be at #Unravel2019 22nd-24th Feb. Find them on the Hill View Farm stand at Farnham Maltings. #crochet #crochetscarf #crochetdesigner #handdyedyarn #indieyarndyer #pink

I love the way the light sits on this yarn, it has so much depth of colour! It's a hand dyed Blue Faced Leicester sock yarn in shade Blue Speckled by Natasha at @hillviewfarmmoments and the shawl is my Emily pattern. I'm currently reworking the pattern and it should be available on #ravelry again at the end of Feb. You can find Natasha's beautiful yarn at #unravel2019 at the #farnhammaltings 22nd-24th Feb.

@yarnlovechallenge Day 6: Challenging. Well, I can honestly say without a moment's hesitation that this dress was the most challenging thing I have ever made. It is a replica of a damaged vintage dress and I had no pattern to work from, just the original dress. It took *weeks* longer than I had anticipated; I discovered as I went on, the original dress was full of anomalies and mistakes, all of which I had to replicate to ensure the same fit. It meant double checking every.si...ngle.chain. There may have been a few tears. There was definitely wine. I consumed enough tea to single handedly support a small plantation for a year. The enormous relief when it was finished was only surpassed by an overwhelming need to sleep. I'm currently planning the next one. 😁 #yarnlovechallenge #yarnlovechallenge2019 #crochet #loveachallenge #headache #crochetdress #handmadeclothes #vintage #crochetcotton #scheepjes

@yarnlovechallenge Day 4 - Generations (I know I missed Day 3, I'll catch up later).
My amazing Mum taught me to knit, crochet, embroider and sew. She also tats, but didn't pass that particular talent on. My maternal grandmother was a knitter, my paternal grandmother sews. This photo is me attempting to pass some of the skills on to Pip - she sees mostly but I'm hoping she'll come round to knitting and crochet more as she gets older. I think it's so important to pass these skills on through the generations - it's a thread that connects us all and a knowledge that lives on even when we're gone. Plus, they might prove to be useful skills after the apocalypse!

#yarnlovechallenge2019 Day 2- A corner of my home. I think in a previous life I my have been a cat, as this is by far my favourite spot in the house at this time of year. I would dearly love a real fire, but unfortunately that's just not an option here. There's still something very peaceful about sitting by the flames and hooking, even if they are only electric!

Hi! I figured a need to make more of an effort with social media this year and to get me kick started I'm going to be doing #yarnlovechallenge2019 So - this is me. My name's Anne, I live just outside Windsor in the UK. I'm a mum to two little people, a step mum to three not at all little people, a wife, crochet designer and teacher. It feels like I have been crocheting forever and nowadays I am rarely found without yarn - it's stashed in pockets, handbags, car door pockets, ...everywhere. I've just taken up weaving, which I think is going to prove just as addictive, though maybe not as portable! I also have an allotment, which calls to me frequently but is much neglected, although I am planning to research how to spin the nettles into yarn so that I can justify keeping it....

The tiredness has caught up with me over this last two days, so I've been taking advantage of Pip's snow day to start working on an idea that's been floating around in my head for the last month. The yarn is Dabbler 4ply Bluefaced Leicester, hand dyed by Natasha at @hillviewfarmmoments in shades Norwegian Pine, Fool's Gold, Jam and Blue Speckled. #snowday #crocheteveryday #wintercrochet #crochetdesigner #indieyarndyer #crochetshawl #braindump #wip #jewelcolours #green #workitout

Due to the weather and school closures, today's crochet classes at the Home Of Shabby Chic Windsor are cancelled. An additional session will be held on Friday 15th Feb to make up for it. Stay warm and have a lovely weekend!
