Went there yesterday for the mayday races, what a day. Sun out , beers in , surrounded by lovely lookin women and great service. Couple of winners aswell to top it all off. Class.

User

Unfortunately the racing is cancelled however received excellent service in asking for a refund from a lovely lady who phoned me within a minute of me massaging through the Facebook page. Thank you Down Royal. Gutted but hope to go in May

I really enjoyed the races and the atmosphere the only thing that went wrong was the bus to the track is stated on your website that the belfast bus company left from college square north so we missed the bus because it actually leaves from the city hall. It would be great if you could update your site as it cost another £20 to get a taxi there.

Have always loved Down Royal, I’ve been a frequent visitor for many many years but today was exceptional. I had requested a little extra assistance due to family circumstances and the staff were totally incredible. They all went over and above to ensure we were looked after today. I cannot express how much that meant to me today. Down Royal is always an extremely enjoyable day out especially if you take advantage of the premium entrance or lunches, makes the day so much more fun, warm and comfortable with plenty of tote people about if you like a wee cheeky bet!! Highly recommended but book early to avoid disappointment!! Once again thank you all

Great place for a day out was there on May Day and have been for past 5 years. Great atmosphere and nice place when the suns out and always a bonus when you leave quids in.

Great day out yesterday the 5th/11 good days racing but only problem is the bar

It's a complete disaster trying to get a drink, with such a big crowd you should of had a plan in place to cope but clearly you hadn't, the wait for a drink was about 45 mins average not good, but saying that we had a good days craic.

User

Absolutely superb day of racing! Great ride from Ruby Walsh to land the big one on Valseur Lido. It's a great little track, great bars with friendly staff and the most jovial bookmakers I've experienced on a race track! Maybe some more food options would be nice and an extra toilet, otherwise it's the best value racing day out in the UK/Ireland by far.

User

Went with a big crowd the crack was good but the bar run out of vodka and ice which is the only drink I take I was disappointed that on a day like May Day the bar wasn't sufficiently stocked

User

Too packed in the suites. Only 4 totes on busiest day for racing. No small bottles of wine available?? Still a good day out but could do with a wee bit of tweaking to make things better for the punters....

User

The racing itself was enjoyable as I picked a few winners, but the day was somewhat soured by the behaviour of a large group of young men chanting sectarian songs and throwing beer and water bottles down on everybody, even the bookies started packing up before the last race was finnished, total disgrace and I am not sure if I will return another time.

Went yesterday with my family and 9 month old grandson , I enquired before hand regarding baby's and was told it was fine, when we got there we were told there was only 1 high chair and being used so the child was uncomfortable the whole time , getting passed about , then she was told there was no baby changing facilities afte me being told there was , she had to change him in disabled toilet on the floor , had I have known all this we wouldn't have brought him , that's why I enquired prior to booking , apart from that it was fine , just warning other people with small children , a bit disappointed and left a bit early as child was crying and didn't want to disturb other guests

Went on May Day Monday, great family day out weather was brill, my only fault I had my 1 year old daughter with me and no baby changing facilities, the que for the ladies toilets was unreal as well as the disabled toilets, asked I don't know how many staff were I could change my daughter and none of them knew! I ended up having to ask at the jockeys first aid room could I change my daughter and they gladly did, a place so big should def cater for young kids.

User

Nice enough small course, was having a good time until had a bet placed incorrectly which would have placed, only to find the bookmaker put it on the nose

Don't normally write reviews but wanted to let all the ladies who are thinking of attending ladies day to be very careful. I was at ladies day on 24th June and was in the marquee watching the best dressed winner being announced when a girl behind me said I had leaned against lilies which were sitting in a vase on the floor and there was pollen on the back of my dress. I would think if you were having flowers on the floor esp lilies around so many dresses you should remove the pollen.

I went to the staff and they immediately got very defensive saying well this has never happened before and there was nothing they could do about it. I am quite sure mine was not the most expensive dress there, even though it was expensive so was extremely upset as everyone I spoke to said it wouldn't come out.

Fortunately it did come out and to the race courses credit they did pay for the dry cleaning but only after I pushed for them to do something. To this day knowone has offered a hint of an apology or even asked if the pollen came out, which to me says a lot of their attitude towards their patrons. Someone being a little sympathetic would have made all the difference.

A group of 10 of us went today and paid for the Rainbow suite on arrival everything looked great but changed very soon. We honestly never saw so many drunk and loud people. We went down the stairs on 2 different occasions to the cleaners cleaning up vomit. Then the very loud table beside us which a few of them had no need of any more alcohol but we're continuously served alcohol at the bar one of their party vomited all over the table and floor at which point the bar staff continued to do nothing about (we all had to leave due to the vile smell) after the racing was finished I personally went back up to lift a jacket left and decided to use the toilets before our journey home. On entry to the men's toilets I was welcomed by 2 men rolling in vomit and empty bottles of vodka and buckfast on the floor. This was an experience that we won't forget and really disappointed in Downroyal race course. My wife is heavily pregnant and to have to endure that vile experience today was totally unacceptable. Bar staff should be trained in alcohol awareness and not to be serving continuous alcohol to intoxicated people. We did mention this to bar staff and we're looked at as if we were strange and then approached eventsec staff where they replied with it wasn't their problem. Good days racing ruined by poor organisation.

User

This was supposed to be a nice family day out, we were in rainbow suite and it was freezing despite several complaints. Also tote terminals not always working so queues for betting will not go back or recommend it

User

Quite simply disgraceful. Full of drunken louts singing sectarian songs. No interest in racing whatsoever. Worst day at the races in a long time.

User

Great day out.

User

A great day out for all the family . I Steward at it and love the interaction with the punters . A fun filled day and who knows ... Lady luck may be on your side
