We had a very pleasant two night stay this past July and would highly recommend the Dufferin. Comfortable with excellent breakfasts and a great pub just up the street. Well situated for exploring the sites around Strangford Lough.

We had a lovely stay at the Dufferin Inn.

When we arrived we were greeted at the door by Leonitine.

She got us to fill out some information and then while we did so, she went off and came back with a try with our white wine in a cooler, 2 glasses & some roses in a vase. Was a lovely touch.

She showed us the rooms downstairs and where to go for breakfast and some information about where we could dine that evening.

Then showed us up to our room which was overlooking the street where we came in the front door.

As the dufferin inn is an old Ulster bank building, many of the original features were maintained such as the doors which were heavy & the whole venue has the olde worlde feel.

Our room had a four poster bed and the mattress & pillows were so comfy.

The room had tea & coffee making facilities which I love.

The ensuite was a bath with shower and the towels were so clean, White & soft. There was wee complimentary toiletries which are great if you didn't bring your own.

In the evening we dined in the smugglers table which is down towards the water, only a short walk from the dufferin inn.

The staff were very attentive & the food was great. The only thing I would say is the menu was quite limited. A few more choices would have been nice.

With being a workaholic it was nice to get away for a change of scenery and a rest & Chris & I both remarked on our walk back from the restaurant, how friendly the locals were.

For breakfast there was fruit juice, cereals, fruit salad and yoghurts, teas & coffees & then you had the choice of cooked breakfasts. Of course on this occasion we both opted for the Ulster fry! It was non greasy, which I appreciated and made you feel like there weren't too many calories!

We had to be checked out by 11 and sadly Lenotine wasn't about reception when we left so I signed the guestbook & have a thank you card ready to be posted to her. Lovely lady & very welcoming.

User

Stayed here quite a few times, as always superb breakfast, with great choices, room clean and welcoming and brilliant host, Leontine. Not forgetting her friendly helpful staff. Would recommend anyone to stay here.

User

Stayed here a few times now such a homely place too stay Leontine will go that extra mile to make your stay extra special. This place is far better than a lot of hotels. I left a pair of shoes in my room and she even went to the trouble of posting them to me. Will be back hopefully soon such a lovely genuine lady
