In one of his final acts as District Master of Ballymacarrett Royal Black District Chapter No4 Tam Boyd presented long standing member Joe Lemon with a certificate of appreciation for 60 years of service to the Royal Black Institution in East Belfast.

Over 170 local people with learning disabilities and/or autism had their achievements recognised at the recent (8 May) 24th annual Orchardville Awards Ceremony 2019 at Titanic Belfast. Northern Ireland football legend David Healy was a special guest at the event.

Pupils from Longstone School Special School in Dundonald have been going green by creating a beautiful Community Garden within their school grounds which will act as an oasis for pupils and wildlife alike. As a Rights Respecting School this project is helping young people in the school along with the wider community get access to their rights, specifically the right to be taught to protect the environment and respect other people.

St. Dorothea’s Parish Church, Gilnahirk is holding its annual Summer Fête on Saturday 15th June starting at 2.00pm. It’s always a great day out with lots of attractions on offer, plenty of stalls in the main hall and marquee and great live music playing all afternoon, to add to your enjoyment.

Ballymacarrett Royal Black District Chapter No4 held its annual VE Day parade around East Belfast. The parade was accompanied by Ballymacarrett Defenders Flute Band, Pride of the Raven Flute Band and Lord Carson Accordion Band.

A new sports development initiative combining sport and opportunities for young people from different backgrounds in the city to learn, share and play together has been launched.
‘On The Right Track!’ is one of Belfast PEACE IV projects, under the Children and Young People theme and is targeted at 13-16 year-olds. PEACE IV is funded from the European Union and managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB) and is designed to support peace and reconciliation in Northern Ireland and the border region.

The resting places of Lieutenant (Lt) Gilbert Donnelly and Captain (Capt) John Forsythe Harvey, were honoured on Thursday 21 March during two rededication services held at the Commonwealth War Graves Commission’s (CWGC) Ste. Emilie Valley Cemetery and Noyon New British Cemetery in France.
