First Act Youth Theatre Description

First Act Youth Theatre was founded by Mary Duddy Fitzpatrick. Mary trained in London from 1999-2003. She decided to come home in 2004 as she always wanted to give something back to the city after her own magical experience at First Call Youth Theatre, based at the Playhouse.

First Act Youth Theatre has being going for ten years, covering performances like 'Twelfth Night', 'Philadelphia, Here I Come', 'Blood Brothers', and many devised pieces which explore issues concerning young people in the city.

In 2013, FAYT hosted a world INDRA congress at the Millennium Forum. INDRA (International Development for Reconciliation using the Arts) brought together theatre companies from around the globe: India, Palestine, Brazil, Canada, Greece, Cyprus, South Africa, and UK groups - Bolton, Burnley, Plymouth and Durham. All the participants worked for a week, exploring and sharing many conflicting issues that cause barriers in their own environments.
