Big week out at our Strathroy Link Road Site in Omagh! The Beams for the Bridge have been installed with the help of Liebherr's LR 1600/2 Crawler Crane. Excellent progress on the project has been made by fitting the beams to the abutments and the middle pass. A big job handled fantastically by all involved. Interview skills training yesterday at Dean Maguire College in Carrickmore. Our Strule site Engineer Sree Santosh was on hand to review mock application forms and carry out interviews with the students... after this great experience Sree also gave the students feedback on their performance. A fantastic insight for the students as to how to make the most of their future opportunities. Beautiful bright afternoon for the P4 kids from Knocknagoney primary school to have their first on site visit of our Blanchflower playing fields project in Belfast. The children were here today to learn about construction and health and safety on site. Fox have been involved with the school as part of our Buy Social programme. Site engineer Ciaran was on hand to answer all questions and help the kids understand the importance of health and safety on site. Plenty of interest and questions from the P4's! Checking out progress for the new pedestrian and cycle bridge in the Dundonald area, which will open up access for residents and visitors between The Comber Greenway and Dundonald Leisure Park. The concrete pour into the central piers was completed last week and the construction of the steel grids for the upcoming concrete pour for the abutments is well underway... Andrew Grieve, Head of the DfI Walking and Cycling Unit said the project: “Will contribute to the Programme for ...Government objective of increasing the number of journeys made by walking and cycling. This bridge provides an important link between the communities that live close to the Comber Greenway, the Dundonald Leisure Park and other local amenities. It is a good example of a collaborative approach to active travel development between statutory authorities.” Looking forward to the finished product!

Delightful Day at the Titanic Hotel Belfast attending the GoAwards! 2019. Fox were shortlisted as finalists in the Go Buy Social/Sustainable Procurement- Construction Award Category. We were in great company and extremely proud to have been shortlisted for our Strule Project. Although we didn’t take home the trophy we are more than ever determined to continue to excel in the Go Buy Social Programme, a programme which has had a substantial impact and has helped over 800 people into work since its inception. It was a day not just to celebrate the success of the Programme but to publicize the procurement of projects with social benefit clauses and to bring attention to those outside of Northern Ireland the headway that has been made here. Great weather this week to be checking in on our recently commenced Blackwater Bridge Replacement scheme in Monaghan. The project will involve the construction of a new three span bridge to replace the existing bridge that carries the N2 national road over the Blackwater River. Currently excavations and preparations for the temporary road and bridge are taking place.
The project will aid with the alleviation of flooding at this location. The N2 is the main Dublin to Derry route through County Monaghan and this section of the route is used by over 12,000 vehicles every day. It will be a great job when completed!

Last Friday one of our Quantity Surveyors Aisling Young gave a talk to the first year QS students at the Letterkenny Institute of Technology, her graduate college. Aisling is working on our N56 Donegal Road Realignment scheme and gave great insight to the students about working in the field. Austin Sammon, senior QS lecturer at the Lyit praised her efforts and added that having guest lecturers for the students was of great benefit.
