Glass Art Ireland Description

We are a relatively new Company specializing in kiln formed glass and etching. We are committed to achieving the highest quality products, using up to date specialised equipment, and technology.

Kiln forming glass involves the use of raw sheet glass of various colours and textures ranging from clear, reactive, translucent and opal coloured, texture, iridescent, decorative and dichroic glass. A number of inclusions can be added such as powders, frit, stringers, metals and etching. The glass is the slumped into or dropped over moulds.
The decorative possibilities and applications are only limited by the imagination!

All of our Glass Art is handcrafted in our Studio in Moyallen, County Armagh. The studio is fully equipped; including a large kiln capable of taking the largest, retail produced, sheet glass. Together with sandblasting, cutting and polishing facilities.

Our etching equipment is able of reproducing, fine detail of, any reasonably sized image into the glass, so there are endless possibilities!

Highly trained staff are dedicated to producing products that not only define each pieces functionality, but also to create a strong visual attraction to ‘touch and feel the nature, outline and identity of each piece.

Our Company range of products, which are showcased and on our website www. glassartireland.com, is only a small selection of the items that can be produced. If you have a particular requirement or wish to discuss a project, please contact us. l

Our goal is; ’Not only to deliver a product that is certainly possible to be used functionally but also to cross the boundary of function to that of a work of Art’.

Having only joined Facebook on Monday 11th March we are still working on our Facebook page.

A new video will be posted next week ( week commencing 15th April, slightly delayed and our on-line shopping website is now up and running. A lot more products to put on to view

If you 'like' give us a thumbs up!

Take a look at one of our new Scandza vases. It's shape and colour are reminiscent of an old Norse drinking horn!

Here's a sneak peak at our new collection entitled "Scandza".
Muted colours and a matte finish make some of these pieces look like shards of bone!

Take a look at Keith's interpretation of a Red Dwarf star.
Warm, and rich colours to help you forget about the snow!

Throwback to the chandelier which we exhibited in the Bangor Castle walled garden last summer!
One advantage of the unpredictable Northern Irish weather was that each glass leaf changed tones throughout the day. complimented by the verdigris copper spiral.

Here's Keith's interpretation of a sunrise on Gliese 581c.
Warm earth tones with layers of reactive glass make for a fascinating piece!

Meet the Maker 2014-‘Reflections of Nebulae’ Exhibition by Glass Artist Keith Sheppard
‘Reflections of Nebulae’ is an exhibition of sculptural forms by Glass Artist Keith Sheppard, based on observations of Nebulae stars within the Galaxy, reflected in glass. Keith specializes in kiln form Glass Art tableware and sculptures. His Glass Art predominantly involves the infusion of metals into the glass; this process gives each piece a further dimension of uniqueness and identity with enhanced vibrant colourations.

Parallax Art Fair Press Release For Immediate Release Parallax Announces February Art Fair Dates at Chelsea Town Hall Parallax Art Fair will return to Chelsea Town Hall in February for its ninth event, its organisers have announced. The fair, most recently held in October 2013, will open with a private viewing on Thursday 20th February, and then opens its doors to the public from 1-8pm on Friday 21st and 11-5pm on Saturday 22nd February. The organisers, BFA, have again ensure...d a truly international flavour, with artists of all media in attendance from all around the world, including the USA, Canada, Japan, Georgia, Costa Rica, South Korea and wide representation across Europe. The Parallax Art Fair is not your typical art fair. It allows both new and established artists to exhibit on equal footing, without judgment or qualification by the organisers. A firm exponent of the “art is the viewer” perspective, Parallax is keen to attract a broad audience, both art lovers and casual browsers, to allow more people to become involved in art without pretension or expectation. Dr Chris Barlow, the original founder, says “We just want people to come and see our huge range of international art. It might just chase away the winter blues, present the opportunity for investment or a gift for a loved one, or just inspire new thoughts or ideas. Art is for an audience to enjoy, to make of it what they want. Our artists exhibit over a vast range of media, so we truly have something to appeal to every taste and budget.” Many of the artists have fascinating stories to tell which often inspire their creations: Keith Sheppard for example, a UK sculptor who uses glass and metal in his work, was inspired by a life-threatening accident which almost left him paralysed. An operation fusing two of his vertebrae with metal allowed him to walk again. He says, “My work explores the possibilities of fusing the improbable to create objects which are remarkable, unusual, and life-affirming.”
With 225 artists in February’s line-up, the variety will be impressive. As well as paintings and sculpture in all conceivable materials, the fair will include paintings, photography, x-rays, light-displays, textiles, pottery, jewellery, ceramics, natural materials, embroidery and far more to create an experiential, visual, tactile exhibition that explores the possibilities of art and form to the full.
The exhibition is free to the public, and further information is available at www.parallaxaf.co
