About Gorestown Lough Fly Fishery
Stunning lake in a tranquil setting with lots of Fishing Jetties and fully stocked with grade A trout.
Reviews
OPEN AGAIN. Water level is down a good bit but apart from that all is in good order. Fish well rested and eager to please visiting anglers.
Lake will re-open tomorrow however the situation will be monitored and if needed we will close again.
Due to the on going conditions the lake is closed to all fishing for the foreseeable future. This will be under constant review and we will open again as soon as conditions improve.
Cooling down nicely and clouding over. Ripple all over the lake. Has the makings of a good evenings fishing.
As promised folks pictures of winners and Marie Curie presentation.
Good morning, On behalf of ourselves, Cathy and Micheal Fagan & the Sheridan family I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone involved with the competition yesterday. To say it was a success I believe is an understatement. Altogether we raised a staggering £2500:69 for Marie Curie. With a full house of anglers and fish being caught was a great day all round. Competition winners were:... 3rd Alan Brown with 7 fish 2nd Caomhan Shanks also with 7 (beat Alan on time by 39 seconds). 1st place went to our resident garden gnome Cormac McGeown who managed 11 fish. (Can anyone guess which fly he used). Once again I would like to thank everyone involved for making this a huge success.
Further pictures will be posted once we receive them including the prize giving and cash presentation to Marie Currie.

Bit blustery today making it tough to cast on parts of the lake, but sure if it was easy everyone would be doing it.
May not be the biggest but still a nice looking brownie.
Lovely weather for ducks and fish at present
Nice brown today for Dale Carlisle
Since taking this image skies have cleared and sun has come through. Fish rising all over, nice ripple across most of the lake.
Another promising day with fish rising.
Overcast with a light southerly wind. Fish rising freely.
What a fantastic fishery. 3 days at it now under its new management and every day it gets better. The hospitality is second to none and the fishing is as good as you'll get at a fly fishery, beat my personal best day by a mile. Highly recommended.
Very friendly welcome. Very helpful guys. Lots of fun for kids and adults. Some big fish moving.
Short trip today. Me and Lisa were on the 4 hour ticket. Both finished on 6 fish each but could have been alot more we missed our fair share. All fish in great condition. Will be back soon. Oh and I caught a beautiful brownie.
Our club Willowbreeze Flyfishing club have been to Gorestown on at least 3 occasions and we have not been disappointed. Great fishing every time.
Looking forward to getting out on it was on craigmore today and despite it being stocked on Thursday we had 3 fish between 3 people
Have been to many many lakes over the country and rate gorestown highly up there, a good clean lake with great healthy fully finned fish. No gimmicks needed, bring a box of buzzers and you wont go far wrong.
Great spot 2 of us fished it last week with 19 & 13 fish very good quality and hard fighting fish
