Beware gardening black Friday deals....plants out of season, about to die, not suited to climate, and you probably don’t really need it in the first place!

Thought I was all done with lawns for the season, but will be cutting my own garden this weekend. Running out of time to get all the equipment serviced!

Jobs for November. Keep lawns trimmed but raise cutting height. Deciduous trees shrubs and hedges can be trimmed through dormant season. Roses and spring bulbs can be planted. Finally, schedule any hard landscaping projects in advance of next spring.

Winter is the prime time to take care of hard landscaping - new structures and beds as well as maintenance to existing areas

New family member arrived yesterday, just in time to tackle the leaves.

Very late with the October post - things have been hectic given that autumn is one of the busiest times of the year. I plan to create a simple table outlining all of the monthly reminders/updates on a single page over the winter so watch this space...
Lawn - raise cutting height to help grass in preparation for next year. Also apply winter feed (high potassium, not high nitrogen).
Trees and Shrubs - prune late flowering varieties. Trim evergreen trees and hedges.
... Flowers and bulbs - plant spring bulbs. Last month to safely plant perennials as well as divide existing ones.
Other - make a space to start making your own leaf compost . There’s nothing better out there
