Thinking of buying a puppy ?? Please don't buy from a puppy farmer and perpetuate their cruel trade. Here are some warning signs to look out for but if you are unsure about how to source a healthy pup from a reputable breeder please call us for some advice.

If you are planning to take your pet to Europe next year please be aware of changes to travel arrangements Post-Brexit (29th March) Until the Government comes to a new agreement regarding pet travel, the system to take your pet abroad is changing. You will now be required, in addition to a microchip and rabies vaccine, to get a blood test and then have to wait three months before travel. THIS WILL TAKE APPROX FOUR MONTHS IN TOTAL. So, if you wish to travel on or after 29th March, even if you have a pet passport, you must contact us FOUR MONTHS BEFORE TRAVEL to start the process. For more information give us a call (028 90 796005) or to read the official Government advice follow this link https://www.gov.uk/guida…/pet-travel-to -europe-after-brexit…

Did you manage to spot it on the x-ray? It was a sewing needle that Rosa swallowed and which lodged in her throat. Thankfully her owner quickly realised what had happened and it was removed and she has made a full recovery :)

Your pets become part of your family and no place could care for your wee family more than Gortlands. Friendly, caring and nothing is to much trouble from the phone calls letting you know how your pet is to the love shown them when you bring them in. 100 percent trust in my vets.

We have an old dog that's never really been in a vehicle (she's fairly big too), we worried about how to get her seen by a vet without causing her distress. Gortlands were able to send a vet up to our home (there is a call out fee which we were happy to pay). I really appreciated how he treated her and us. I'd definitely recommend this practice, they didn't treat me like a moron-cash-cow, and they were able to calmly and professionally deal with my big, old, grumpy dog without causing her any undue stresses!

We had to have our beloved dog Lincoln put to sleep on Saturday morning at Gortlands Veterinary Clinic and the help we received from Sophie and Andrea was amazing they really tried to ease an awful situation.

The care Lincoln has received from Sam Morrow (now retired) over the past 9 Year’s has been exemplary and because he heard that we had lost Lincoln he called at our house today to see how we were. Amazing service from all concerned can’t recommend this Veterinary Clinic enough.

We give 5 * plus for the care our dog Prince has received from Dr Veerle Browne and her team - We always know he is in safe hands. In addition Veerle has always gone that extra mile to ensure he gets the best of treatment . We have been with this practice for 12 years and the support , help and friendliness of all the staff is exemplary.

One week ago today we said our final goodbye to our beautiful furry boy - to say we are heartbroken is no understatement. However, I would just like to say that the professional care, understanding and compassion of the staff in Gortlands Veterinary Clinic helped to make an unbearable situation a lot easier to cope with. In particular, we would like to thank Sophie who treated our boy so gently on each and every occasion.

You all do such wonderful work and I'm just sorry that I can't adequately express how much we appreciate it. We hope you know that our simple 'thank you' is heartfelt.

I highly recommend this vet for any pet. Its the best vets in the country. They are most careing and respective to all pets & their owners, with the highest of hygiene between each treatment. We just lost one of our dearly loved cats at 19 years old, (Chico). Gortlands had done their very best for poor chico. When chico sadly past away, they showed respect in our loss buy sending us a sympathy card. What more can I say, only a great big thank you to everyone at Gortlands.

Have been bringing my different cats and dogs here for well over 30 years.....my first.... beloved Toby lived until he was 17. I don't think there is another vets practice as caring and reasonable in their fees. Mrs Brown and her staff have always been exceptional in their care

User

Gortlands Vets are fabulous! Literally hours before I was going on a trip of a lifetime, my dog fell whilst running downhill in a field. She broke her front leg in 3 places. I left her in the care of Gortlands until family arrived to help out. They were in constant contact via Skype and email, discussed all possible outcomes before I left and provided much reassurance for me and the rest of the family. Unfortunately she had her leg amputated 3 days later, but as promised she has adapted very well and remains a very happy and lively dog. Thank you to all concerned.

User

Excellent caring & dedicated people at Gortlands. They brought my dog Blackie back from deaths door, she is still well a couple of years later. Thanks Veerle for great treatment & advice about Jody, my almost 22 year old cat. I have been with Gortlands almost a lifetime, they've seen me through many visits & have been wonderful & sensitive when the time comes to say a final goodbye to those we love as family. Many Thanks

User

Can't thank Gortlands enough for how well they looked after our dog Bailey, after he was attacked by another dog. Nothing was too much hassle and after 2 weeks care he's back to his happy self

User

Always very happy with the service at Gorlands. Over the last 20 years they have looked after our dogs and cats with care and affection. We highly recommend them.

User

A heartfelt thanks to David and the team at Gortlands today who supported us through the sudden and unexpected loss of our much loved border collie Biskit . My family has used Gortlands for over 20 years and they took such good care of our boy for us these last 10 years. We honestly can't thank you enough. We will see you all again at some point, I have no doubt about that.

Thank you, Nicky, Colin & Lucy Forrester X.

Unfortunately Gortlands failed my dog Poppy yesterday when they sent her home severely dehydrated and anaemic and recommended cage rest for 6 weeks for a sore neck despite admitting themselves the pain shouldn't be leaving her in such a bad state. She was pitiful and just hanging. Within minutes of walking into our house she took a turn for the worse and I had to rush her to the emergency vet where she had bloods done and the decision was taken that she was actually battling too many things and should be put to sleep. The neck pain was the least of her worries but was the only thing Gortlands looked into and didn't address why she was in such bad condition. Nothing would change the outcome but I feel my dog suffered needlessly yesterday with being left so badly dehydrated. A blood test would have showed just how bad a state she was in. Best about it is when we rang today to say how upset we were that this has happened it was very much a case of "what do you want me to do about it" and didn't care.
