Looking forward to an interesting day with Helplines Network NI at their awareness day. Great information about other helplines available to our members and also tips on how we can provide a better helpline service.

Make it a bigger night out by making the most of the Canal Court special overnight offers after our comedy gig.
We're delighted that the Canal Court Hotel is offering a discount of more than 20% on their B&B cost for anyone attending the Charity Comedy Night "Laughter is the Best Medicine!" on Friday 8 February 2019 (£120 for a double and £80 single). Accommodation availability is limited so I would advise booking ASAP!

We were delighted to welcome Tara Mills from the BBC into our centre yesterday as she covered a story about people with a brain injury and the struggles they face in relation to claiming PIPS. She spoke to one of our survivors Daphne and her husband Nigel and our centre manager Anne Murphy. Please see the link below which has more information. The full story will be shown on BBC Newsline tonight at 6.30pm.

If you’re after a cure for Blue Monday and fancy helping local disability charities at the same time then look no further than a side-splitting night of comedy in Newry on Friday 8th February.
‘Laughter is the best medicine’ will showcase the talents of some of comedy’s rising stars, including MC for the night Ryan Hand who will be flying in from London for this special charity event in his native Co Down. Ryan recently made a big splash onto Saturday night TV as presenter of... ITV's Cannonball, he also presents Celebrity Ninja Warrior, Channel 5’s When Eurovision Goes Horribly Wrong and was named Media Eye’s Rising Star of 2018.
Joining Ryan will be star of The Blame Game Mickey Bartlett as well as the “West Belfast Taxi Driver” Paddy McDonnell - described by Jason Manford as Belfast’s answer to Kevin Bridges.
Adding some mystery to the night will be Rodd Hogg, fresh from his hit Sky TV show ‘The Irish Magician’. Specialising in close-up magic, Rodd is one of the most sought-after performers in the country.
Proceeds from the event will go to help local people with disabilities who are supported by Head Injury Support Newry and Employers for Disability NI.
The event will take place in the Canal Court Hotel at 7.30pm on Friday 8th February. Tickets are £17.50 and are available from www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/laughter-is-the-be st-medicine-ticket… , from Head Injury Support, 4 Kildare Street, Newry BT34 1DQ, the Canal Court Hotel or pay at the door if any tickets are still available.

I have suffered from a traumatic closed head injury major fracture with hematoma causing disability that changed direction of my life for me and my family. Without support for people like myself the world can be such a cold and dangerous place for anyone but when your judgment is altered it becomes that much worse. Support is appreciated by all.
