On the night that Queen's hosted the annual Keith Jeffery Public History lecture, which commemorates and celebrates our late friend and colleagues Professor Keith Jeffrey, History staff gathered to celebrate a year of great achievement. Amongst the numerous highlights in 2018 were:
Nine monographs or significant edited collections involving Queen's historians. Seven major research grants on-going within the team. Eleven PhD students successfully passed their viva.... History hosted the European Social Science History Conference (over 1,500 delegates) and hosted the Oral History Society (UK)/Irish Oral History Network conference (200 delegates) and a dozen other symposia. In the process we made dozens of new friends across the academic world. History hosted the Wiles Lectures (Professor Alison Bashford, University of New South Wales), the annual Keith Jeffery Public History lecture (Dr Deborah Mack, Smithsonian National Museum of African-American History and Culture) and a symposium on Civil Wars featuring Professor David Armitage (Harvard) We revamped PGT teaching, including the launch of MA Public History.
