This week is #mentalhealthawareness week and this time last year I was fortunate enough to be able to share the story of my own personal experiences with depression. ‘Mind Trap sponsored by idVerde’ started off as my design, but by the end of the show it was everyone’s garden. It was such an amazing privilege and very humbling to be able to share experiences with the visitors to the #RHSChelsea2017 Flower Show.

So proud of the students from Greenmount CAFRE who volunteered to make my design for the feature garden in Allianz Garden Show Ireland 2018 a reality.
This feature garden, called Meditation, moves on from the story of the ‘Mind Trap sponsored by idVerde’ last year RHS Chelsea Flower Show. It’s a garden that reminds us to take care of ourselves and reminds us to take time out and find peace either in the garden or with a walk in the woodland landscape. It is a garden that has ...elements in it that reference most of the show gardens I have designed including one for the first ever Garden Show Ireland back in 2005, to RHS Flower Show Tatton Park 2014 and RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2017.
I am genuinely immensely proud of the volunteer horticulture students that have made this garden a reality. They have come so far with their skills and knowledge through some very adverse conditions to build a show garden in 10 days.

We were honoured to have Paul Martin call in to see the progress just before the planting starts on the final week of the build. Day 1 - the transformation from a blank canvas commences.

Day 1 on site and the work starts on the #mindtrap garden sponsored by Idverde UK. Heads Together Perennial - Gardeners' Royal Benevolent Society #headtogether. I'm honoured to have so many great people helping to make this a reality and I'm excited to start my first ever #rhschelsea with this positive mental health garden.
