We were lucky enough to travel on the Ulysses. Very smooth crossing and I got through both journeys with seasickness, a minor miracle! There's a cinema, cafe restaurant, bar VIP viewing deck and of course duty free shop. Can't comment on the food as never risk eating at sea. Would be happy to use again

User

Staff very warm and welcoming. We we're club class and found the food and refreshments lovely and worth paying that bit extra for. Facilities onboard were clean and well maintained; shop and onboard entertainment was enough to keep all ages happy. Would use Irish Ferries again. Thank you x

User

Fantastic service! Flew to Birmingham to collect a car, due to delays, traffic etc, we weren’t going to make the boat home! Contacted Irish ferries in Holyhead and the lady I got on the phone was more than helpful! The last check in was due a 13.40! She did he upmost to hold the boat back for us! Needless to say we arrived at 13.55 and managed to get on hassle free! Fantastic! Will be using this service a lot more in the future!

User

Very fast ship..... less than 2 hours to Ireland from holyhead. Quick boarding and getting off. Efficient staff although oddly had a couple of language issues as I think they were Scandinavian and a little broken on occasion but no worries really. Didn't eat or drink as the trip was so short I'd sorted this out before I boarded. I'll be using these on the way home if I can

User

Ship itself, = well maintained and clean

Food = overpriced & bland

Staff = rude and not friendly. Customer service onboard leaves a lot to be desired.

Kids facilities = there is a play area yes but its more gambling machines etc. Came from Holyhead to Dublin yesterday, 3 hours of kids from 14 to 5 running and screaming around the place. Was pure nightmare

User

First trip to Ireland, in real terms as 2 adults and 1 child as foot passengers £170 return a bit pricey for the actual distance travelled, but I have still to find a comparison from a competitor. The toilets at Holyhead port were the first set which made me think of trainspotting where Renton dives into for his suppositories. Also, there must be a way of increasing the frequency of departures. Irelands a wonderful part of the world, it needs to be made more accessible :)

User

The old boat has nothing to do on it, very small area when u get on, the swift inside is twice the size

User

Stay away from the cod and mash potatoes today.

They tasted vile but customer service is very good.

User

I have been travelling with Irish ferries for 7 years now as they're the cheapest option on the route we take.

Overall the ship is ok. Food is very overpriced and bland.

Staff are not generally very helpful or friendly . We pay for a service and get treated like the staff are doing us a favour

Work on your customer service and food quality & pricing and see how or Improves

User

All the plugs were European for a journey which goes between Wales and Ireland, so couldn't charge my phone or anything, the card machines when you pay in the shops on the boat were in a foreign language so could literally say anything on them also the staff struggled with speaking English which didn't help when I was looking for something.

Real shame as had high hopes for the ferry as it looked good from the outside and inside was nice and clean, but will be sticking to Stena Line after this one

User

Why are Irish ferries still selling tickets on the web site for the Jonathan swift when they have sold it? That's fraud on a large scale .Time to contact the ministry of tranport today .

User

The pet care system is appalling, the kennels are in a very noise environment with a smell. Leaving her in the car for 3 hours by her self is not ideal! You can't take your dog on deck with you.

As a dog owner I now have to sit through this 3 hour hell of a crossing , hoping that she is okay and not stressed out on her first journey on a ferry.

You should be allowed to stay with your pet at all times.

Please sort this out,

Extremely unhappy and angry customer!

User

Terruble company. Terrible customer service, and apparently even more incompetent management.

User

Just witnessed very poor customer service at the Holyhead desk, around 8-10 people arrived late due to the train arriving late, the staff stood arguing with the people for 25mins all the while they could of got them on the ferry in that time they wasted arguing, now there is 8-10 people stuck in Holyhead port waiting on the next ferry which won't sail for another 8hrs at least and that includes 3small children one of which has a broken leg, disgrace of customer service, at least they could have offered the father with 3young kids b&b accommodation until the next ferry, outrageous it really is the worst customer service I ever seen.

User

I was offered a £150 quote online for 4 adults and a car travelling one way from Holyhead to Dublin which was brilliant, and when I clicked to book the trip the price jumped up to £240! A £90 jump is ridiculous, they have just lost a sale and we will never be travelling with them or recommending them to anyone. I rang customer service to see could I sort the problem, where I could only describe the response as useless and a waste of time and money calling a premium phone number. Stena line it will be this time round, not much cheaper but our only option now as we have to sail back on the given day!

User

I could not be more disgusted with how we were treated on the Dublin swift 30.06, whilst check in was quick and pleasant, unfortunately that is where the nice experience ended. We had 2 cars in our party, 1 which had a 10 week old baby and the other that had 1 disabled passenger and 2 senior passenger with mobility issues, which was made aware of on booking. However, we were put up on the mezzanine decking and crammed in like sardines. We were parked so close to the wall of the ship and other cars that in order to get our 10 week old out we had to wedge our door into the side of the ship (obviously damaging it), had to leave him in his car seat as getting his pushchair out was a complete impossibility. Our passenger then injured himself getting out of the passenger side as we were parked so close to another car it gave him around 3 inches to get out, resulting in him catching his foot and tearing the nail away from its bed. The other car in our party meanwhile was having a worse time (if possible), my disabled step mother was forced to squeeze out of the passenger side of the car and literally climb along the railings overlooking the lower deck to get out and my grandmother couldn't even get out of her side as the gap was only 3 inches , we couldn't even open the door properly. I would love to say that's where the problems ended but it was just the beginning. We then had to zig zag through cars, squeezing through minute gaps(damaging clothing and leaving rather horrendous black marks all over my clothes). My husband had to carry out 10 week olds car seat over his head to get through, a terrifying experience I never wish to see again. So once we eventually get through the car maze and onto the deck, we asked for a first aider to attend to our injured party member as his toe is now bleeding very badly. The staff we initially dealt with were very pleasant, one of the officers on board took him away and bandaged him up (after we had cleaned him up), the officer then returned to us a while later and asked us if we would like to make a complaint about it (? Who wouldn't) our party member was whisked away to make a statement, note not an accident form, a witness statement. Pictures of his foot were taken and he joined back with us a little while later. Fast forward about 45 minutes later and the officer that dealt with us returns with what I believe was a more senior officer. We'll short of telling our injured party that he was lying as when the picture of the toe was taken there was no blood , he told us that as it was done trying to get out of our own car it was pretty much tough and that he had spoken to irish ferries and from what I could gather they would not be excepting liability. We never saw anyone again, so still not sure on what is happening Fast forward to returning to our cars and it was the same problems in reverse. My whole post is not all negative as on the initial trip over to Dublin the swift was cancelled and we ended up on the uylasses and our experience couldn't have been more pleasant. Piss poor show irish ferries, I wouldn't recommend the swift to anyone. Take the uylasses. Much nicer experience and less passive aggressive staff.

User

Have to say I'm not very happy with Irish Ferries.

Travelled back from Dublin to Holyhead on Tuesday. They parked us next to a taped off area of deck which was obviously being painted. When we got home we discovered lots of little green splashes of paint on our white motorhome, I'm not suggesting this was in anyway deliberate. It looks as if it's small wind-blown splashes.

So if you are travelling by Irish Ferries and they try to park you next to a taped off area of deck I suggest you decline unless they can guarantee no painting will not happen while you are there.

It's very, very good paint. I took ages to get off!

Were Irish Ferries interested enough to reply to the email I sent a couple of days ago? Not in the slightest!

The on board staff are great. Timings were spot on. Food and coffee were fine. It's just the paint and poor customer care that let them down for us!

User

Do NOT use this company. If the service runs, then expect poor facilities (baby changing is only offered in the Disabled Toilet - and there is only one of these on the newest ‘Flagship’).

When a service is altered or cancelled, then the call centre does not answer calls. Calls ring out, are diverted to automated service, or (most intriguingly) have music playing for 15 minutes with no conclusion.

Absolutely appalling Customer Service.

User

Arrived by train to Holyhead with a ticket for Irish Ferries to Dublin... to be told that the boat is in dry dock for a few days (as if it was the most normal thing in the world). Managed to get on a Stenna Line in four hours time! Asked if the return on Irish Ferries (for which we also have a ticket) will be ok for Monday... to be told it should be but possibly not. Never come across anything like it.
