John Long's is Belfast's oldest fish & chip restaurant. We serve only the best fish & chips, homemade pasties and much more all in a traditional setting.

John LongŌĆÖs Fish & Chips
The longest established fish and chip shop in Belfast, John LongŌĆÖs is among the cityŌĆÖs top seven wonders: the Europa Hotel, Linen Hall Library, Peace Walls, Ulster Museum, Harland and Wolff and the Crown Liquor Saloon.
Just a few yards from the Opera House, is one of Belfast's hidden gems.
It is no surprise that Belfast people have been visiting John Long's for their fish supper for a hundred years. People here just want good food, good value and good craic. All three are here in spades.
At Long's, we like to think we make the best fish suppers in Belfast (if not the whole country). We just use the best fresh fish, light and crispy batter, Maris Piper potatoes and our famous homemade pasties. Good food, and lots of it.
For 2016 the NI Year of Food and Drink, John LongŌĆÖs has created gluten free fish suppers including chilli cod, lemon haddock and natural smoked hake.
Long's is a bit of a local secret, but the word has got out. We've had a few of those actor types drop in for supper: Brendan Fraser, Sean Bean, and the lads from Take That (before they got too old! ). Eamon Holmes even said that if he had only a couple of days to live, he'd end up at Long's for his last meal. From the Big Man that is praise indeed. Dara ├ō Briain the Irish comedian and television presenter also popped in recently to try our world renowned fish supper!

Went for the first time yesterday for lunch with my wife we both had a fish supper with bread and butter (plain bread mmm) .ill be back.’┐Į

The best Fish and Chips I have ever had the STAFF where excellent and so helpful and pleasant to talk to make the trip glad we did back shortly ¤śŖ
Our first time eating here a few weeks ago. Food was excellent and the service was better than some I have received in expensive restaurants. We will definitely be back.
Just had the nicest piece of fish complemented by some cheeky chips with vinegar after a hard day at work helped down by a glass of wine - hard to beat - got to be the best fish and chip shop ever - keep it up Mr C ’┐Į

Old School diner experience you just don't get anywhere nowadays, the restaurant is extremely clean and the service is fast and efficient. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Belfast.
I was in John Long's this afternoon with my sons and we all enjoyed fabulous fish suppers. The staff were all lovely particularly the lovely lady that served us and looked after us so well and bringing extra jugs of water.Then as we left we met John who was very kind and friendly to us also ! Happy customers¤śŖ
I took my family to Longs fish and chips, for the first time in years, sat in the restaurant. Excellent food and First Class Customer Service was made to feel very welcome. It won't be as long before I will be back again. Highly Recommend.
Had the most beautiful piece of unbattered chilli flavoured cod. It just melted in my mouth. You could also have had lemon flavoured which I will try on my next visit. The rest of the party enjoyed the traditional fish & chips which was cooked to perfection . Staff lovely, very friendly & the service was super quick. Highly recommend this establishment if you visit Belfast. I will definitely be back. Thanks John & staff.

Best fish and chips ever, there is no place else that you could even compare them to, we are going to go back regularly

4 oŌĆÖclock on a dark afternoon a bit wet and a bit cold. Bright lights of longs and good friends..ah gorgeous. The service and food were great. We will be back ’┐Į
Fish goujon meal and fish supper both very tasty and worth it although for a goujon meal there was very little chips had to ask for peas for the supper, minor details, food was great and staff were very friendly. Thank you.
No complaints whatsoever about the food as the fish was beautiful and the service great . The only fault is the portion sizes. I hadn't been in a few years and I was surprised to see that the plates are now tiny. Lucky if you get 10 chips with a fish supper. Prices are also way more expensive than anywhere else in the city centre. Can't see myself going back which is a shame as I always loved going there . Unfortunately it's just too dear for what you get
Used to go to it a long time ago and it was brilliant.. Last time I was there. I asked for a fish and cup of tea. Fish came on a little piece plate and that was it. Not even a few chips not even one. Very miserable looking. I'm a pensioner and couldn't eat many chips but it would have been nice to get a few. Would not cost them to much and would take the dreary look of just a fish. The chippy I go to now give all the old people a good scup of chips for free. Maybe you should look and take at how other chippes treat the old. Okay. ’┐Į’┐Į’┐Į’┐Į’┐Į
Only ever eaten here twice and although I enjoyed the fish on my first visit the prices are crazy, our meal came to ┬Ż18 for two people and this was just two sausage suppers, curry sauce, beans and two glasses of sprite! Curry sauce and beans costing ┬Ż1.50 isn't the worst in the world but for a glass of sprite (which 100% was not sprite but a cheaper tesco alternative) sold for ┬Ż1.50.. Apparently if you sit in you're not able to have a tin or bottle served to you! Would definitely go back to eating lunch from the supreme over in Sandy Row as you get far better value and quality for what you're paying for!

The best Fish and Chips I have ever had the STAFF where excellent and so helpful and pleasant to talk to make the trip glad we did back shortly ¤śŖ
Our first time eating here a few weeks ago. Food was excellent and the service was better than some I have received in expensive restaurants. We will definitely be back.
Just had the nicest piece of fish complemented by some cheeky chips with vinegar after a hard day at work helped down by a glass of wine - hard to beat - got to be the best fish and chip shop ever - keep it up Mr C ’┐Į

Old School diner experience you just don't get anywhere nowadays, the restaurant is extremely clean and the service is fast and efficient. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Belfast.
I was in John Long's this afternoon with my sons and we all enjoyed fabulous fish suppers. The staff were all lovely particularly the lovely lady that served us and looked after us so well and bringing extra jugs of water.Then as we left we met John who was very kind and friendly to us also ! Happy customers¤śŖ
I took my family to Longs fish and chips, for the first time in years, sat in the restaurant. Excellent food and First Class Customer Service was made to feel very welcome. It won't be as long before I will be back again. Highly Recommend.
Had the most beautiful piece of unbattered chilli flavoured cod. It just melted in my mouth. You could also have had lemon flavoured which I will try on my next visit. The rest of the party enjoyed the traditional fish & chips which was cooked to perfection . Staff lovely, very friendly & the service was super quick. Highly recommend this establishment if you visit Belfast. I will definitely be back. Thanks John & staff.

Fish goujon meal and fish supper both very tasty and worth it although for a goujon meal there was very little chips had to ask for peas for the supper, minor details, food was great and staff were very friendly. Thank you.
No complaints whatsoever about the food as the fish was beautiful and the service great . The only fault is the portion sizes. I hadn't been in a few years and I was surprised to see that the plates are now tiny. Lucky if you get 10 chips with a fish supper. Prices are also way more expensive than anywhere else in the city centre. Can't see myself going back which is a shame as I always loved going there . Unfortunately it's just too dear for what you get
Used to go to it a long time ago and it was brilliant.. Last time I was there. I asked for a fish and cup of tea. Fish came on a little piece plate and that was it. Not even a few chips not even one. Very miserable looking. I'm a pensioner and couldn't eat many chips but it would have been nice to get a few. Would not cost them to much and would take the dreary look of just a fish. The chippy I go to now give all the old people a good scup of chips for free. Maybe you should look and take at how other chippes treat the old. Okay. ’┐Į’┐Į’┐Į’┐Į’┐Į
Only ever eaten here twice and although I enjoyed the fish on my first visit the prices are crazy, our meal came to ┬Ż18 for two people and this was just two sausage suppers, curry sauce, beans and two glasses of sprite! Curry sauce and beans costing ┬Ż1.50 isn't the worst in the world but for a glass of sprite (which 100% was not sprite but a cheaper tesco alternative) sold for ┬Ż1.50.. Apparently if you sit in you're not able to have a tin or bottle served to you! Would definitely go back to eating lunch from the supreme over in Sandy Row as you get far better value and quality for what you're paying for!
Went for the first time yesterday for lunch with my wife we both had a fish supper with bread and butter (plain bread mmm) .ill be back.’┐Į
The fish was melt in your mouth and the batter similar..
