A Year 11 Girls’ Blazer has went missing this afternoon, from the cloakrooms. The name of the person who owns it is clearly marked on it.
Please check to see if you have lifted it by accident and return it to the school office ASAP.
Thanks!

The Art Department welcomed back, past-pupil Tessa Wilson, who is currently studying Fine Art at Belfast School of Art. She visited some Year 9 and 10 classes to facilitate a project entitled ‘Miniature Kilkeel’. Pupils were asked to depict various local businesses in Kilkeel on mini canvases. Tessa will install the exhibition in Made in Mourne early in December and we look forward to seeing the finished display!

Autumn Ambling in the Park
I walked into Tollymore Forest Park on a cold Sunday afternoon, down the meandering paths, snaking and weaving in between the trees; I could see the ducks on the duck pond flapping excitedly, as some children animatedly ...and abandonedly threw the crusts from their picnic sandwiches onto the large expanse of water glinting in the sun. As I walked on heading into the forest, all around me I could see the last signs of autumn and some red squirrels foraging ferociously for food, in preparation for hibernation. There was a gentle breeze as I walked slowly, admiring the view. The trees’ remaining leaves were finally falling off their branches. Suddenly I was surrounded by autumnal coloured leaves twirling and swirling all around me.
As I ventured on, I stepped into a denser part of the forest and began to see the boundary of the forest. As I edged closer to the boundary wall, I could see a freshly ploughed field, seagulls scouring and scavenging from the furrows and some silently soaring up to meet the low winter sun in the sky, which had just turned up as the very cold day began to warm up. I began to weave and wind my way back to a path which would eventually lead me back to the duck pond. I stood and gazed at the ducks as they paddled and bobbed under the cold, still pond water.
As I crossed the bridge and slowly climbed the steep slope. I could hear children shouting, squealing and shrieking with excitement as the ice cream van pulled up into the carpark. As I got further on, I eventually passed the rangers office. Just as I passed it, I could see campers and caravaners parked up. As I passed a caravan I could smell sausages, sizzling slowly, coming from the caravan. As I edged closer to home, I sensed the closing of the day and the very branches of the cumbersome Cypress trees that line the avenue leading me to the Barbican gate, seemed to wave me goodbye, as their branches silently swished and swayed soothingly in the soft autumnal wind.

Our Year 10 pupil, Holly produced a winning design for the Newry, Mourne and Down District’s Environmental Calendar. It will feature for the month of April in the 2019 calendar. Her piece of work reminds us of how we need to respect and look at our earth. Well done Holly!

Fashion Show (Part 2)

User

At the end of June, we held a fashion show and night of entertainment to raise funds for the Children's Cancer Unit Charity and Daisy Lodge, two charities who both do amazing work.
The night was possible, thanks to the willingness of local businesses to showcase their fashion; as well as students and past pupils who took to the stage to model and provide entertainment in both song and dance and our staff hosts for the evening. We are incredibly thankful to the make- up artis...ts and hair-dressers who came to the school on the evening and voluntarily gave of their time to prepare our models. In addition, we must also thank all those who donated items for the silent auction, provided lighting and the catwalk, all free of charge. Pupils and staff worked together and with heartfelt thanks to those who supported us, we were able to raise a total of £4000. In all the planning and preparation, a very special local boy was in our hearts and so, on Monday, we presented cheques for £2000 each to Daisy Lodge and CCU in memory of Daniel Forsythe.
Thank you so much to everyone who played a part in making these donations possible.

On 7th November sixth form students from Kilkeel High School and St Louis headed off to Lisnaskea to the Share Discovery Village for a 4 day residential funded through TBUC. While away students looked at various issues to do with ‘Identity’, ‘Community’ and ‘Building Good Relations’ while also enjoying the many and varied outdoor and indoor activities offered at Share. Activities such as archery, mountain biking, canoeing, banana- boating, the climbing wall and many more. There was even time for a little bit of shopping in Enniskillen before returning home on Saturday evening.

In the interests of equality, the staff and pupils marked International Men’s Day on Monday by recognising inspirational men from their subject areas, their interests or their own families.

Good morning pupils: So Yr 12s ... you have one week to go before your exams and the rest of us a week plus a day! What decisions are you making about your learning? Remember, YOU are responsible for your OWN learning! What are you doing about it today?

User

Good morning pupils. Just a note to remind you that good results do not just happen - it requires hard work and effort! There is no other way around it and no short cut. Don’t fool yourself into thinking that you will perform well in the exam without making the effort to study. I guess the question is ... are you serious about your learning? It’s a yes/no question! The answer will determine the amount of effort you put into your learning!
