For the third year we have try it sculling sessions on 20 May, and opportunities for new scullers to take a series of four Sunday morning lessons starting either the first Sunday in June, August, or September. This is our big push for new members this year. Please offer to help, and tell your friends. Spaces are limited and it is important that newcomers register in advance by email. Very friendly and welcoming to people like myself, who arrived with absolutely no experience or knowledge. Great coaches who explain everything you need to know at a digestible pace. No arduous land based training, into a boat and start learning. Was hooked straight away.
Super friendly club, i'm a complete novice, and over the last few months everyone I have met here has been super helpful, warm, encouraging and willing to share their skills. I'd definitely recommend Lagan Scullers for anyone looking to give sculling a go. I also really appreciated the ability to pay as I go until I was sure I wanted to become a member.
Our first experience of the club was through our son.
We couldn't believe the warmth of the greeting we all received on his first day.
The friendly, approachable, encouraging style of the coaches has helped him greatly.
Not only that but they have actually convinced my wife and I to give it a go as well!
Would thoroughly recommend the club to those of any age or ability interested in sculling.
My teenage daughters and I joined the club for a while and found it a very friendly club. Gordon was a fantastic coach and I loved the fact I was able to learn to scull alongside my daughters. This was not an option with other clubs as I would've had to train at different times. This was the reason we chose the club. Unfortunately due to school exams and not living close enough we had to stop but definitely intend to rejoin. My eldest has went on to join the rowing club at university and had an advantage as she was the only fresher who knew how to scull. They use her to teach the other students.
Great club, great folk, and very much appreciate the support I have received as a para rower, thank you for putting up with me lol x
Best club on the river! Welcomes all ages (almost) and all three sexes
If you want maximum sculling activity and a friendly club this is the place, but if you want to row as well or wish to compete at top level, there are 2 other clubs in Belfast with open membership.
