Lifebalance Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Description

What is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy?

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, also known as CBT, is focused on the here-and-now, time-set and goal-oriented with problem-solving. CBT teaches individuals specific skills in identifying thinking errors and modifying beliefs and changing behaviours.

What are the benefits of this type of therapy?

• You learn to think and believe more rationally, instead of allowing negative automatic thoughts and feelings to control your thoughts
• You learn to develop different strategies, one of which is to replace unhelpful thinking patterns with more realistic, alternative thoughts which will enable you to think more rationally and thereby reduce emotional distress
• As you feel more in control of your thoughts, your belief system about yourself changes which influence positive behavioural changes
• Behaviour changes occur when we become aware of negative thoughts

What can this service offer?

CBT is useful for resolving difficulties as in depression, anxiety, phobias, panic attacks, obsessive compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, drug and alcohol addictions, child sexual abuse and schema.

The therapist is fully qualified with experience in working with people who are Deaf and people with disabilities. She is fluent in British, Irish, American and International Sign Language. She is available to meet clients in the North and South of Ireland and can provide therapy via video calls worldwide for people who speak English or use sign language.
