Lough 5 Road Race /Walk on 31st December

Lough5 Description

Loughmacrory will play host to more than 500 runners from all over the country on New Year’s Eve as the 'Lough 5' takes centre stage in the village once again.
The fifth annual five mile race will get underway at 12 noon (Walk starts at 11: 45) and will cater once again for all types of runners and walkers, but there will be particular interest in the closing stages of the men’s and women’s open races, which will both have attractive cash prizes on offer to the first three runners over the line.
Last year the top prize in the male division went to Eddie McGinley from Annadale Striders, with Patricia O’Hagan from St Peter’s AC the first woman home. With the 'Lough 5' now firmly established the race organisers are anticipating another large field sprinkled with quality.
With the closing stages of the five mile route involving a lap of the lough, the setting is undoubtedly a spectacular one for both spectators and participants and it promises to be another great success.
Apart from the race for the open title, there will be prizes for the top male and female in all of the other running categories. There will also be a free t-shirt for the first 450 runners to register for the race and the organisers are advising entrants to register as soon as possible.
The entry fee for runners is £10, for early registrations, or £12 if registering on the morning of the race. For walkers the entry fee is £5 and all proceeds from the event will be shared between Termonmaguirk Cancer Patients Fund and The Friendly Care Group.
