We were honoured to have Frank Cannon visit us at Takeover last week to talk to the members, inspiring any burgeoning actors and giving brilliant insight into his journey in the industry. You're a star Frank! (You even have a halo around your head here!) 🎥😁😇

We are excited to announce that the incredibly talented and lovely Frank Cannon will be joining us at Takeover Youth this Thursday! We’ll be discussing acting techniques, tips and I’m sure hear a few good stories too. Frank has featured in an impressive array of film work, having only starting his acting career 4 years ago as an extra. A few of Frank credits include Spot - QUB (edited by our very own Takeover facilitator Bethany Mackin), Secret Life of Boys - BBC, Flowers Unw...ilted - Belfast Met, Silicone Self -Josh Lynas,The Chaperone UB. A Walk ,A Window and A Way Back Home - Connor Richmond, Violet(2018, directed by our very own head facilitator Madi Graham, Christopher Whiteside, music composed by fellow facilitator Monica Bannon) and feature film The Lost City Of Z.
Frank is admirably supportive of local student films and filmmakers just starting out, citing them as among his favourite to work with because of their passion and soul for film. This would include working with BFI, QUB and Cinemagic.
"I fell into acting very much accidentally and I've been hooked on it ever since. I'm always striving to improve myself as an actor by sheer hard work and as much on set time as possible’….’People saw something in me that they thought would suit their projects,which I'm eternally grateful for. Personally, I think I've a great face for radio!"

We were honoured to have Attila Szabó in with Takeover Youth last month to discuss his work and artistic process. We were delving into our inspirations, dreaming the impossible, how to remove mental obstacles in the creative process. Attila is a pro when it comes to creating what seems to be impossible! His mind-bending instrument "serenade by the random" is a prime example. What an inspiration! ☺️

This is great news for those involved! Elian was selected by Takeover Film Club’s young programmers for our film festival in 2018. It is a stunning documentary that deserves this award.

In a Heartbeat Review
‘In a Heartbeat’ is an emotionally driven animation masterpiece that conveys the unrealistic and exaggerated actions of the characters to the audience to represent the unpredictability of love and the power it has over us. The seamless transition from the vibrant colours to the murky, cool tones persuade me to feel the emotions felt by the characters in this film.
Through the clever combination of diegetic and non-diegetic sound, no dialogue is require...d for this showpiece to have a lasting effect on all those who have the honour of watching it. It will tug on your heart strings and make butterflies flutter in your stomach as you follow the heart-warming story of a young boy who is attracted to another of the same sex. ‘Be still, my beating heart’, I can hear it in his thoughts as he expresses his true affection for another.
