Racing Foyle Punts
My view from Moville Pier this afternoon as the "Foyle Punts" started racing. These beautiful hand crafted traditional boats have been raced at local regattas for many a year

The Omey Races
My third year visiting this wonderful event that takes place on the tidal sands of Omey Island, Connemara. The course is set up as the tide recedes and the event must end before the tide returns. There's a fabulous atmosphere & spectacular views - and the light seems to jump off the white connemara sand. Its a photographers dream

Doo Lough, Co. Mayo
I was doing a little bit of touring down the West over the weekend. This was one of the many much photographed & very beautiful locations on our route. I really enjoyed watching the changing light when the clouds parted every so often. What a lovely way to spend an hour or maybe much more!

Summer Sunset - at the Summit of Errigal
We were higher than the sea and level with the sun. A temperature inversion was developing in the valleys and constantly changing our view of all that seemed so very far below. Last night on Errigal. One to log in my mind to battle mid-winter blues

Breaking Light on the Summit of Errigal
Buy prints here http://www.martinagardinerphotography.com /errigalsunrise29m…
It was a middle of the night adventure that took us to the summit of Errigal for 4.30am. A moment of summer madness - a kind of a tick on the bucket list. Summer sunrise on Errigal sounds good to the ear. And it was beautiful and special too. A large fireball arose from the ocean and took some time to break through the mist and fog. When it finally did break I managed this shot. We had the top to ourselves and it was wonderful. Makes me glad to be alive and healthy and well enough to enjoy this moment

Friends by the light of the Moon
Tonight's full moon rising over Grianan of Aileach. With these perfect weather conditions it just had to be tried again. This month the moon rose into a darker sky and the image was alway going to be more about the silhouettes than the wider scene. A big thank you to my friends who kindly volunteered for me. You've definitely given the scene it's magic

Summer Sunset at Grianan

It's a kind of 'there's no place like home' photo for me. The summer sunset view from the ancient Grianan of Aileach ringfort overlooks much of Lough Swilly with the very beautiful Inch Island centre frame. I love to track the sunset as it moves North West this time of year but I'm also sad to think that all too soon it will come bouncing backwards again

The View from Binnion Hill, Inishowen, Co. Donegal
It might only be a hill but the reward for climbing it is as good as having climbed a high mountain. Binnion can be see from many parts of Inishowen. It sits near the villages of Clonmany and Ballyliffen and the view from the top is breathtaking. This is just one of the views looking Westwards over Tullagh Bay, Urris, the Mamore Hills and way beyond

Grianan Moonrise - What happened next
There's just two minutes between the photo you may have seen in my last post and this one. In this meantime i had to quickly move position, refocus and calm myself lol. I love this shot too. I showed the previous one first as I'd always wanted the shot of people silhouetted against the moon. This one is in some ways similar to one I got almost two years previous but the lovely thing with photography is that no two shots are the same.
...Thank you all so much for all your likes and comments - they are so much appreciated. It has been my most enjoyable & exhilarating photography experience so far. And I always look forward to more

Watching the Moonrise

Tonights beautiful moon rising over the ancient Grianan of Aileach ringfort. I look forward to the full moon rising every month. I always make plans and I'm usually left disappointed with our less than perfect irish weather. Today was one of those rare exceptions.

A tiny but beautiful road leads to the rocky shore at Port Caman, Malin Head. I have a breathtaking moment every time I pass this very spot. For a while I've been trying to capture this joy & this is my best effort to date. I hope you like it too

End of Day at Inch Castle

It's a perfect time of year for viewing the sun setting behind both the Castle and the Derryveagh mountains of West Donegal - I especially love it when Muckish is included in the scene. I got lucky while taking this photo as some beautiful swans decided to fly by just as the sky colours reached their best

A little piece of night sky perfection from my Monday night adventure. Bád Eddie under our beautiful milky way with a gentle aurora brewing to the north. A photo for my own wall I think. One I've been looking forward to for some time :)

A View from Magheraroarty
With Shipwrecks, mountains, sea and sunshine how could I not be happy. This is just one of the views we enjoyed yesterday evening in the far North West of Donegal. There's a fantastic view of the Derryveagh Mountains from here - just behind these old boat wrecks is Errigal, snow-capped and wonderful
