McCandless Opticians is still open for ESSENTIAL EYE CARE, EMERGENCIES and to anyone who is a KEY WORKER.
We will remain open to meet essential health needs for key workers and to keep pressure off GP's, A&E and hospital emergency eye departments.
We have been advised to stop providing routine sight tests and care during the COVID-19 crisis.
... We are operating on a much reduced staffing level and have in place appropriate measures to manage the COVID-19 risk.
Please call us on: 028 9332 3394 or 07367 390916 and leave a message with your name and contact number if you fall into these categories:
*ESSENTIAL EYE CARE would for instance be if an NHS or key worker needed a sight test and new spectacle prescription or had broken their glasses. Where a contact lens wearer needed more lenses or where a visually impaired person or a child needed eye care.
*URGENT CARE would include urgent clinical advice or intervention e.g. for red eye, contact lens discomfort, foreign object, sudden change in vision or flashes and floaters.
We will endeavour to call you back and arrange to see you as soon as possible.

As a Primary Healthcare provider we have a role to play in preventing the spread of COVID-19. We also have a role to play in providing essential eye care, keeping people away from overstretched GP surgery's and A&E where possible.
Our professional bodies are working on plans to see exactly what our best code of practice will be. McCandless Opticians will be following this guidance carefully in order to keep our p...atients and staff safe.
If you have ordered glasses, we will endeavor to get them ready as soon as possible. We will be in touch with you to offer free delivery to your doorstep or free postage and can take balance payments over the phone.
To reassure our contact lens wearers, we continue to receive regular deliveries and can post to you free of charge.
The government advice is clear, STAY AT HOME. We will do everything we can to help you do this. We are here for you if you have any eye care questions or emergencies.
