The idea of the “Night at the Movies” for the second half of our annual Flowers of Edinburgh Concert 2019 was inspired by one of our committee members, David Alexander, who lent us old posters he had from the Olympic Cinema in Markethill. The cinema was situated on Main Street and was run by the grandparents of our chairman, Conrad Clarke. It was opened in 1948 and the name Olympic originated from the fact that the Summer Olympics took place in London that same year. Take a look at a few of the posters. See if you can recognise any of the films or stars of the shows.

Compere at our annual Flowers of Edinburgh Concert in Market Place Theatre, Armagh, 26th April was David Scott. After the dancers had performed the last dance of the first half, “The Pipers Rock”, David tried his hand at the art of highland dance, much to the enjoyment of the dancers and audience. Dance tutor Kelly Graham was on hand to give David a few pointers on stage!. 📸 courtesy of Alan Hopps
