Mid Ulster Show Jumpers

About Mid Ulster Show Jumpers

Mid Ulster show jumpers provides gymkhanas and pony games for all levels and ages from the surrounding areas.

All shows provide three rings (Horse, Pony & Beginners) in operation, including practices areas.

The horse ring starts with the warm up, then two novice classes, where the second round is allowed regardless of faults. This is followed by three open classes. All clear rounds compete against the clock.

The pony ring starts with the fledglings, where everyones a winner.
This is followed by the warm up and then novice and open classes for ponies upto 12-2, 13-2 then 14-2.
The pony ring uses safety cups and new jumps. This provides great learning experience for ponies and riders alike, but is keenly contested.

The beginners ring has the pony games (ponies to be lead), and beginners jumping (ponies to be lead).
The beginners ring is under the charge of Isabel Mawhinney and provides a great opportunity for lead rein and young riders to develop skills and have fun.

The charity show on the 7th May also has a showing ring with classes for tiny tots lead rein, first ridden, family pony and horse under saddle.

The Perpetual Trophy Gymkhana on the September 10th also has a showing ring with classes for tiny tots lead rein, first ridden, family pony and horse under saddle.

Huge thanks to all our competitors and sponsors today!! First show of the year and the sunshine just helped make the day. We’re so delighted to announce that the grand total raised today was £1,100 😁🤗👍🏻😍 we couldn’t do it without our loyal supporters and John will keep us updated on how the money will be used in the treatment of patients within the stroke rehabilitation unit. What made the day even more special was seeing John in his usual spot in the horse ring, offering encouragement and lifting poles, no one could possibly have thought so soon after his stroke he’d be back but he’s a testament to the good work of the rehab unit, he has a bit to go but has come so far 😊 we wish him well with his continued recovery.

Schedule for this Saturday’s charity show, once again if anyone would like to sponsor a class for £20 to cover prizes that would be fabulous. This years chosen charity has been very influential in the life of John, one of our hard working committee members. With their help many people in the mid ulster area have an improved prognosis after the life changing effects a stroke can have.

It was with great sadness we learnt of the passing earlier this week of our great friend and loyal supporter of the club Jimmy Rea. Always smiling and ready for a joke.
He never hesitated to get his box of hammers in response to the ‘I don’t know what’s wrong but he’s just not right’ statement. Often to hear the response ‘uugh sure he’s all loocked, he canny jump like that’ the standard 5 days rest was prescribed, horse and rider carried on their merry way unsure of what wee jimmy had just done, he was brilliant! He will leave a huge void both personally and professionally. Our thoughts and prayers are with Bertha, Sonia, Aimee and the extended family circle x
