Darragh family at the Millside Pictured are members of the Darragh family from Ballymoney who were marking Father’s Day and for one of those present, the end of GCSE exams. Student Colm Darragh attends Dominican College, Portstewart, and has completed 11 of his GCSEs which meant a lot of studying. Colm is hopeful of some good results and we wish him all the best as he continues his education. Adrian is well known in footballing circles through his close association with Ball...ymoney Youth Academy. Indeed, the team have had a very successful season and Adrian has clearly played a part in their achievements. Others Darraghs making up the group were Patrick, Jean and Kathleen. Ex Councillor celebrates 70th birthday A former respected Councillor in Ballymena held his 70th birthday at the Millside Restaurant in the company of family members. Martin Clarke served as a DUP representative for many years but retired from local politics during re-organisation of local Government some five years ago. Mr Clarke, who ran a successful business in Ballymena which has now been taken over and expanded by his son, Philip, was accompanied by his wife, Margaret, Ph...ilip, and daughter Margaret, along with their children, Joshua, James, Samuel, David, Michael and Steven. Friends reunite for Meta’s birthday Ladies formerly attached to Greystone Road Presbyterian Church in Antrim met at the Millside recently for a big birthday celebration. Meta Booth, from Antrim, was marking her 70th birthday and as is the case with true friends the atmosphere and the occasion couldn’t have been more convivial. Some of those in attendance came from as far as Articlave, Coleraine and in one case, Pat Shirley, a former Deaconess in Antrim, travelled from Ballyca...stle. Loyal supporters of Millside These five gents could be considered part of the furniture at the Millside such has been their support from the restaurant’s opening. From left – Jim McKeown, Roy Stirling, Henry Shannon, John Fleming and David Gregg spend every Friday enjoying the lunchtime food and chat and have no notion of breaking their routine. The pattern was started by John whose suggestion about going for a bite at the Millside with Henry and David was quickly taken up. T...he other two gentlemen, Jim and Roy, have also been loyal supporters of the Millside and on Friday our photographer brought the five together for a picture. The men have formed a friendly relationship with our staff who are delighted to welcome them on such a regular basis.. Chatting to all five invariably raises a laugh such is their homespun wit.
